Ok, Dillon is gosh, 20 months old now, and I'll put my hands up I'm not sure if he is confused with having two mams, but he doesn't cock his leg yet when weeing. What a woose! This means that he tends to come into the house with front p1shy paws -easy to wipe, but now that he has some sores on his front paws, is there the risk that he may infect himself?
Other than tying a piece of string to his hind leg and pulling on it like a puppet - any ideas on how to turn this boydog into a mandog??? Or do I just let nature take its course and put up with the whiffy paws? He does socialise with other male dogs but prefers the lazy lean forward option. Also, since hurting his paws, when in the car (though shouldn't be a problem for a while given that Paula drove the car into a tractor today!), he has started to get really agressive when passing other dogs. Not had the chance to walk him yet to see if he is the same in the streets. Do you think this is short term because he is not feeling 100% well, or am I just making excuses?? What a boy. put his front paws in bags when he goes out for a wee at home.
He will cock his leg when he is ready too, so dont worry. With the car aggression what is he doing? is it when the car is moving or stationary or both? -------------------- ![]() My Ambition in life is to someday be the person my Dog thinks I am! - Emily Maughan |

Thanks for the plastic bag suggestion Izzie, I will try that!
The agression is both when the car is stationary and moving. Really just started last week; on the saturday I had him in town and he went to say hello to a small terrier (while on a lead) which turned on him. He then had the accident on Sunday which tore his paws. Driving away from the Vet Monday evening is when the agression started. Don't know whether to ignore it or shout (incase that reinforces the behaviour). On Saturday coming home we were stationary, and he literally had the car shaking with his prancing and barking. Anyone who did not know the big softie would have thought he was a mad one. Mags -------------------- ![]() |

shouting will make it worse because you are joining in with him.

Can get to TracyMcl in under the hour. (once we get the car back). Do you reckon it would be worth me giving her a call once I have transport?
We've not actually shouted at him because we thought that would only encourage him (and raise my blood pressure!!), but don't want him to think he can get away with it. -------------------- ![]() |

Hi Monty still pees like a girl and is four and a half, my friends springer also same age does not cock his leg either. Am sure its not a problem except for his sore feet.
Monty would be mortified to be thought of as a wuss As for the car thing been there, since i picked him up in March he howls, drools and generally makes a racket. Have you tried a kong with treats in as will distract him for a short time. I am now just deciding i will have to live with it as some days he is better than others. Take today made a bit of a fuss on way out but on way home from long wet walk with friends he was as good as gold |
