After an absolutely S**T start to the year, in which my furry boy has managed to keep me sane

(never thought I'd say that about him).
He has tonight done me proud.............
On our normal walk with Sue and her boys, one corner of one field has consistenly held partridge which Mugi has been diligently hunting only to have one or other (usually mine it has to be said

) spaniel crashing through and bumping the birds.
So, tonight a different approach was tried. Sue popped Freddy on the lead and handed him to me, while I walked Dex to heel along the side of the field. Once she was ready to start Mugi hunting I asked Dex to sit, and he sat - and sat - and sat.
He watched Mugi with interest but kept checking back at me with his bum nailed to the floor, and even with Freddy trying to mug me for treats, he concentrated on what Mugi was doing without moving a muscle.
As his reward, once Sue and Mugi had finiished, I sent him into the same area and he was off like a rocket but after a cursory check to make sure the old boy hadn't missed anything, back he came.
I am so proud of him as that is the most self control he has ever shown, and it gives me hope that I'm not failing him completely as far as his training and my handling is concerned.
So if you will all indulge me while I perform a well deserved happy dance.......
A very proud Deb and a very clever Dex
