Well after weeks of careful planning and thinking and researching, hubby and I have just put down a deposit on a 5wk old springer boy wub.gif We've both grown up with dogs (me with springers and a cocker) but this will be the first dog we own as a couple.

So excited but also incredibly nervous - I just want the best for this boy out of his life. Is it normal to be so nervous?

Anyway, it's been fun to lurk here for the last few weeks - hopefully I will be a bit more involved now we're officially "springer people"!

Hi & welcome

you do realise that piccies are a must.

Hi and Welcome.

I too am a new Springer owner - collected Jasper on Monday. Already he feels like part of the family and we were certainly nervous before getting him. It's fear of the unknown and the certain change to your life that it will bring.

I'm sure you will love every second of having him!

Hello and welcome to the ST gang smile.gif

So do we have any names yet for this wee lad...come on share wink.gif

Hello all, thanks for the welcomes and reassurance.

Yes I will get onto pictures ASAP - I didn't have my camera today but expect some in the next couple of weeks. Promise!!!

As for names... we're mulling over "Dougal" and "Jack" right now (hubby is a big Father Ted fan!)

In the meantime here are my parents' dogs. Alfie is a 1 year old cocker - gorgeous but still very much a pup. Harry is the Springer - VERY unimpressed with Alfie and trying very hard to be the sensible 'grown up' dog now (yeah right), and Gyp is my heinz 57 old lady who we took from a rescue home about 4 weeks before she had a little of pups, a good 9 years ago now!

Hi

Just joined the SP club myself (had choc lab before). We adopted Drake, 2.5yrs old over 3 weeks ago and he has certainly got his feet under the table wink.gif

Really affectionate dogs with great personalities, best thing we have done for a while.

Looking forward to some pic's.

Hello and welcome to ST. Nice to see another pup that we can drool over. smile.gif

jen9984- 10-15-2008
Well, he's definitely going to be "Dougal"... it seems to have caught on with people we know without us even deciding for good!

Crate is arriving tomorrow, and we're going to see him and drop off a towel on Friday (as well as take the all important photographs). The weekend will then be spent puppy-proofing the garden.

12 days to go!! biggrin.gif

Ok, well done for being so patient. Here is Dougal, aged 6 weeks and 5 days: (and perhaps I should add.... "thud warning"?!)
