Since we got snoop he has always been good at night. the first night we had a few crys but that was that. now every few weeks or so he has started barking at night.
have tried coming down and letting him out, but not that. the first time he did it i thought i was being burgled!!

He did it last night and in the end i ended up sleeping on the sofa! we ignore him as much as we can but can't leave him to long cos of the kids.( not fun trying to convince a two year old its not time to get up at three in the morning)

I know i should be gratefull its not every night, but i just can't understand why he is doing it. I will come down and there is nothing wrong with him at all.

He has the whole of downstairs to sleep as he is well house trained, tried leaving tv on but that doesn't help either.

please can anyone shed any light on this????

Despite being fully house trained, he may feel more secure if he was confined to a smaller area? Anything could be happening to spook him, and by the time you get downstairs it could have passed.

I have always had dogs outside overnight, but my collie used to go through phases like this. We decided in the end that it was either apples landing on the roof of his house (he was in a stone outbuilding), or foxes/badges/other wildlife passing by.

Our springer used to be a bit like this...in the end we got him a crate and he went in there every night - we covered it with his blanket. It seemed to do the trick - we were advised that they like their own space and with less distractions, or the feeling they need to be on guard, they tend to sleep better....it worked for us so thought i would pass it on...
Good luck!
