Who does agility?

Hi Jenny

No we aren't going there as it is a bit too far away for us as we live in Middx. As we only bought the motorhome last week we are restricted to the shows that we have already entered. We are hoping to branch out further afield in August.

Tomorrow we are in the UKA event at Walton on Thames. We go to Wales on Sunday week and on the way home we are in the UKA event at Witney, Oxon on the following Saturday. You see we are completely mad!

We do see more and more springers at the shows, and some of them are very quick. It's all about harnessing their enthusiasm for running and jumping but with the element of control and obedience that is needed. Last weekend Jake just wanted to jump every jump that was in the ring and run into the tunnels, unfortunately it wasn't always in the right order! There was a very difficult ABC agility grade 1-7 and Jake fell into every trap that the judge had set, despite a lot of shouting from me! It was just one of those days - only 1 clear round out of 4!

We will have to see if he is going to listen to me tomorrow!

We've restarted with Tizzy after a couple of years interval, got close to competing a couple of years ago but having a baby got in the way. My older springer loved it too but arthritis and back trouble meant that he couldn't jump higher than midi but measured in at standard so we never competed.

This is not my springer doing agility as she is too young, however my rescue terrier, On Friday we competed in the Rescue Leagues Finals and she did me pround coming 3rd in Small graded 5-7.

She is such a special little dog.
