Well jax39 tree is coming along nicely. Conkersmum finally found hopefully a breakthru last night. No wander the proffessionals charge £15 per hr. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif This is great fun. Teaches you alot about the geography of the UK.

I'm lucky enough to be adopted, and on my second 'marriage', so I've got four sets of grandparents of my own, plus my first husbands family (who all came from a little village in North Herts and their history there can be traced back to the 14th century simply through parish records). Then there is my current partners family, who came from the Kingston upon Thames area and Newcastle on Tyne! Still struggling to find a record of his paternal grandparents marriage! unsure.gif

i'd have mine done but its finding out the info u need to start i'd struggle with

You need to know grandparents and or great grandparents. Where they last lived. As many details as possible. Your parents are alive they should be able to give you some info. I didn't think I was going to be able to start Conkersmums then her mum remembered something and away we went.

It can be fascinating to do your family tree, my roots are well and truely in Norfolk and have gone way back using the parish records at the local records office, made some quite interesting and sad discoveries along the way. On the other hand, my husband discovered that his paternal great great grandparents were polish and there we have hit a brick wall smile.gif

I'd love something like this but might also struggle with info.
Grandparents all died before I was 10....parents before I was 30...I can remember some bits but it's sketchy - away to ask brother if he has any info smile.gif

I have been able to go back 6 generations for JAX39.

I started working on mine last year, and did a bit but then work got busy so it had to stop. I used a website to help, and got contacted by someone through that a week or so ago, who turned out to be my 4th cousin.

She's done lods of research, so my mother's side of the tree is now well researched, but to be honest, the girl who contacted me was nowhere near as excited as I was and now it all feels like an anti-climax. dry.gif

Also there are skeletons in my closet I'd like to know about, but she didn't know about them having concentrated on my mum. (My dad was married before my mum with two children - I've never met these half-siblings, don't even know their names!!)

Might set you on that trail!!

Hi,

I'd really love to have a go at this too - but again like a few others, I'm not sure if I'll find enough info for you to get started!

I'll see what I can find and will come back to you
