We were having a chuckle over this the other day, although at the time it happened I didn't quite know what to do. ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

I was out walking Merlin one Friday balmy early autumn evening. We'd had a good time walking across a local park and through a small copse. At the time we had only had Merlin about 6 weeks (he was about 4 months old then) and he had been walking very well behaved off the lead. We came out of the copse and onto a path that surrounded a small fishing lake. Merlin was gambolling quite happily about 10 foot in front of me when all of a sudden we rounded a corner and there was a fisherman chatting away on his mobile, with a tent set up and a disposable bbq on the go - complete with 2 pork chops sizzling away. With hindsight I thought things were too good to be true. Merlin responded to my call as we went past him and stayed close to my heel but then as I patted his head and praised him for being so good he took three steps to his right, grabbed a pork chop and took off like a black and white rocket. The fisherman dropped his mobile and ran after him yelling.

Me: I didn't know where to put my face blink.gif

We returned to our car after a walk and Cracker was having a drink of water at the side of the car. He was hidden from view by the people who'd just arrived back at the next car.

Uncouthly, I took a big swig of lemonade from the bottle and .... with perfect timing ... Cracker emitted a massive belch!!

The people with the car next to ours thought it was me.

I wasn't embarrassed, but was wetting myself laughing. biggrin.gif

Cracker wasn't a real springer, just a mini one (Cavalier)

I have a few but two really embarrasing moments come to mind rolleyes.gif

My first happened with Ernie, my first springer, who darted off onto a cricket field and ran off with the ball while they were in the middle of a match ohmy.gif I think he wanted to try for the local team. I didn't think I would ever get over that one.....

My second was a fortnight ago on the beach with Dougal, who saw some fishermen, ran up to their tackle box and wee'd in it ohmy.gif
Luckily, for them, they'd taken out their sarnies, and luckily for me they had a GSOH.

You know how it feels when you want to dig a big hole and hide in it? wink.gif

It was my OH who had to deal with the embarrassment from Robbie and Dan. They were about 5 months old, I had gone out with Louise my daughter anf OH was upstairs. There was suddenly a frantic banging on the front door. OH opened it to find 2 policemen asking if everything was ok. Mystified, OH said yes, to be told a 999 call had been made and the sound of choking heard! OH then opened the garden gate to find 2 pups chewing happily on the cordless phone! Luckily the police found it funny. I am so glad I was out!

Not the most embarrassing but a giggle anyway.

This time last year Freddy and I were attending the Weim Club of GB Fun Day. They were offering a chance to do the KCGC Bronze and foolishly I thought he would be fine apart from the 1 minute stay. We sailed through the lead walking, grooming etc then it was the recall. No worries thought I as it was fairly set up and that morning he had been doing lovely work on the agility course so I assumed I had him!!

His recall included exploring the whole field perimeter and moving onto the adjacent cricket pitch where the wicket proved so tempting for a quick pee!! After 10 mins or so he decided to deign to return to the field I was on, I pipped his whistle and the dear delightful dog decided now was the time to do a perfect, fast, straight recall and sit perfectly in front with tongue lolling and grin on face rolleyes.gif . Bless the examiner, he said well - you should manage your stay ok (I had told him I had a dog with issues about me walking away). So we move into an enclosed area on the field for the stays - not a chance, now Fred has me back I am not allowed to leave him for a fraction and he will just not cooperate!!

The shame was that all the weims (even the babies) all passed!!!

Freddy has since managed his Bronze and we are currently working for his Silver wink.gif .

Some of those are priceless.

Mine are;

Taz snatching a babies dirty nappy on Blackpool Beach, running up & down with it, he wouldn't give it back !!!!!!!!!! I felt suicidal, as everyone watched.

Then foster dog Tom, grabbed a fishermans sandwich as we strolled down the canal.

Buster weed on a little boys back pack, also on the canal.

You can only laugh & make a great fast escape.

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I am going to print this lot out and stick it on my wall - so funny!!

My embarrassing moment was when my Bonnie was a 4 month old pup and we went for a walk on the beach on Boxing Day. There was this couple with some sort of technical looking kite laid out with its strings, etc, on the beach and Bon decided she would run up and say hello........! She unfortunately got tangled up in all the strings and the man went absolutely mad threatening to sue me, etc. I said sorry and that she was only a pup and managed to untangle her with no damage. The man was still ranting as we walked away and I went and sat on the rocks bawling my eyes out! Along marched this elderly lady with a little Pekinese and demanded to know what was wrong - between sniffs I told her and she replied "what is it with these ******* day-trippers putting stupid things like kites on the beach......" She was such a lovely lady and told me to let my pup off her lead and jolly well enjoy HER beach!!!! (I swear her Peak nodded its head too...!) Ooops!!! rolleyes.gif

This happened about an hour ago! blink.gif

SWIMBO is in hospital, so I have the terrors to myself. Decided to be a proper dad and ordered Pizza for all of us, so that I could sit and watch Borat (B'day pressie) while kids are downstairs watching Power Rangers.

Big Knock on the door

Dogs go berserk (normal routine)

I go down, hold them by the collars and open door

Very scared Pizza man standing, holding the boxes up above his head

Kym and Tilly just want to say hello (OK maybe sniff and lick him in the hope he drops the boxes) rolleyes.gif

Dogs pull me forward and I stub my toes on the door

I let go of the dogs who race out and surround the poor sod

He puts the boxes on my chest (I am prostrate) and sprints for his car

Cheapest Pizza ever laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Well the OH has a coule, one that happened today, in fact. He was down the park and there were some youngsters kicking a football around and they had all there their things on the floor. Well Duggy goes over and starts sniffing around, and OH is calling worried he is going to wee on their stuff (that is the other embarrassing story dry.gif ) when the next thing you know he managed to get their biscuits open and grabbed one and ran! laugh.gif The boy actually apologised to OH which amazed him. As you can guess, though, Duggy was delighted! rolleyes.gif

last week whilst walking around a lake Harvey decided to ruin this guys fishing,he launched himself full tilt into the lake about 6ft from the fisherman, there was a moments silence as he stared at me ,then he let rip all i could do was apologise ,whilst inwardly laughing, but to cap it all as harvey clambered out he lunged at this guys open lunch box helping himself to a sandwich ,exit one wet & fed springer closely followed by a slightly amused owner.................... never a dull moment with a springer is there biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
