Lucy was called Maisy when we picked her up from the RSPCA but she'd only been that since in there and it was so much like Rosie our dog we already had that we changed it to Lucy.

Millie - chose the name because I liked it and we'd chosen her at about 4 weeks old so the breeder chose her KC name to incorporate it (Vivanna Millie)

Hector - was called that when we fostered biggrin.gif laugh.gif him and it suit him - now no longer a foster but has kept the name - although lengthened to The Noble Sir Hector (TNSH) - if you've met him you'll understand rolleyes.gif

Willow is the only one from a puppy, I was going to call her Buffy but Mr CS said no and as Mr CS only suggested 7of9 (star trek thing), she became Willow - or more often called Toad as she is a wee Toad.
Bilbo, was called Sam, didnt like it, and he had big hobbity feet.
Paddy, came from Ireland and was called Peal so something beginning with P, again Mr CS wouldnt let me call him most of my suggestions but his full name which does get used often is Patrick O'Gara O'Driscoll Kennedy laugh.gif
Dobbie - umm, he was called Oscar, not at all an Oscar rolleyes.gif , he was going to get a sensible working name like Ghillie, but spent his life carrying socks about and just wiggled when Mr CS called him Dobbie - he really really suits it and he is the only Dobbie I know laugh.gif

Buster just was a Buster. I read a lot of Enid Blyton as a child, didn't like Scamper, or Timmy and in 'The 5 find-outers and dog', Buster was the dog. wub.gif

Nero, I didn't get to name him, he'd been bought and named before I got home from work, after Nero Burning Rom which was a programe we used a lot at the time. The lady at the kennel club misheard us and thought we were calling him Negro ohmy.gif

Nero is Italian for black, but he's L&W laugh.gif its also a Roman emperor who swung every which way (apropriate) and its Cretian/Greek for water (particularly appropriate) laugh.gif wub.gif wub.gif

Cooper was named after Davie Cooper (Rangers winger - many years ago) as my husband is a Rangers fanatic dry.gif

Callum because I wanted a good scottish name and he came from the Scottish Borders.

Hector was named after one of my father-in-law's childhood dogs.

Dexter was named for the cartoon kids show on Nickelodeon (Dexter's Secret Laboratory) and if we get a girlie in a year or so, I want to call her Dee Dee (Deter's sister in the cartoon), but OH has vetoed this as he thinks its a silly name.

Once we had named Dexter we found out about the show about the serial killer - good job he's such a submissive softie really!

Dexter was also a good name for shortening to Dexie or Dex (although someone misheard me and thought he was called Rex!). Having read "Narrow Dog to Carcassone", he is also referred to as Boney Moroney Poo Machine Knicker Thief Night Barker (not that I shout that across the fields!) or more generally Ratbag or Bag of Rats.

When he does something daft - which is most days he is known as Muppet.

Hmmmmm - I wonder why his recall isn't brilliant wink.gif

The breeder who had my dog had called her Roxy.
He had kept her for field trial work, but she had her own ideas as to what she wanted in life!
When we bought her we thought Molly would be nice, but my daughter said it was her favourite name and if she had a little girl it would be her name. Now, if my daughter had been five I would have ignored this, but she is 30 and has been married for five years.
It was she who came up with the name "Moxie"
When I went to America to visit her older sister, I found it is a descriptive word for a girl who is a go getter. In the dictionary it means daring, courage, energy.
They have a drink in the states like red bull that is called Moxie.

I couldn't have picked a better name myself!

When we went to look for a puppy, the idea was I was to choose, but (no pressure) my OH wanted a male! I wanted a bitch. So my adult children and I viewed the puppies,we came away after great deliberation and had left a deposit for a male. I couldn't get the little lady out of my mind, I think it was the way she kept going underneath my knees smile.gif The children persuaded my OH to let them pay some of the money towards the other pup tongue.gif My Husband chose name Indie because the day we were due to get them was 4th July, My daughter and I chosse the name Molly, this was due to the fact that the Mother Named Molly, had been run over and died due to a car accident 2 1/2 wks after giving birth. It just seemed as though she was meant for us smile.gif

Wouldn't change a thing, I love being a new Springer Mum smile.gif

I should have said when I first posted how lovely it is to see that so many of us have renamed our dogs to go with their new lives!
