Here is a picture of the various dog brushes and combs that I have in my cupboard - are any of them of use for grooming a springer or do I need to ditch the lot? I had a collie before...

Slicker, zoom groom and red comb (if it has rotating teeth esp) def keep. IMVHO the rakes and the other comb I would pass on to your local dogs home although I may be wrong as I have WSS and Brittanys for grooming at the mo.

Get some elastic bands wrapped in between the red comb wink.gif thats the bes-*test*-('") tip ever biggrin.gif

Add a stripping knife, thinning scissors, both types, double and flat on one side, n jobs a good un biggrin.gif

Next is the First Aid kit ph34r.gif biggrin.gif

I would put elastic band through the grey and yellow handled comb's teeth, keep the red comb and the brown handled brush is a good soft gentle brush to get Vinnie used to being brushed and handled, may come in handy for his feathering later on as well.

I'm hoping to avoid clipping altogether - Vinnie lives outside (when we're out and overnight), so I think he'll want to keep his coat. My collie certainly did.

Now, I'm intrigued about the comb/laccy band thing. What does it do, if you know what I mean? And what size band do I need, and where on the comb does it go - towards the handle or the tip of the prongs?

Thanks!

When you comb through the dog, the elastic grips any dead undercoat and strips it therefore keeping the dog's coat healthy and no dead fluff sticking through smile.gif

It will be a while before Vinnie needs this doing,

The band/comb combo is great - i do have a furminator which i find is a bit harsh to use in delicate areas.

I use the comb/band on Angels ears and feathers - just make sure you brush them thoroughly first
