morning all,

just thought i'd let you know about the walky dog bike attachment i got the other day. its very good!!! you can cram 2 hours exercise into 30 mins on the bike. however much the dog pulls they cant pull you off the bike. i started with just a fews mins with sam to build up his stamina and also toughen his paws up a bit. we're upto half an hour now and its the best thing ever! i dont even have to pedal, sam does all the work! he comes back absolutely shattered! its good for him too cos it gives him a really good run as i cant let him off the lead. i'd highly recommend it!

Interesting, I'd seen these but assumed I'd be pulled straight off.

How on earth do you stop him pulling you off?

springergirl- 08-22-2007
hi fraggle,

i know i cant believe i dont get pulled off! but sam just runs next to me, he's too busy running to pull towards anything, but if he does you dont feel it. the walky dog is a metal tube that you attach under the saddle with a short lead that attaches to the collar or harness. it really is amazing, and its great to see him running next to me!!!

I was watching one of the demo videos on their website...they wouldn't like to use my dog for the demo when it comes to passing another dog biggrin.gif
I always think Fipps rather sniffs around on the floor instead of just running beside me. Good exercise yes, but I wonder whether it's very natural for them. I don't critisise you, don't get me wrong, these are just my thoughts I always had, even before I had a dog. Maybe I'm wrong wink.gif

Harvey doesn,t need one of these,he will happily run along-side my bike, and i agree about getting 2hrs excercise into 30 mins he gets a real good workout.though i only use this as a last resort if i,m pushed for time usually in the mornings when i have over slept

Murphy my 5 yrs old rescue Springer loves this gadget! The only problem is he wants to go faster than I do! rolleyes.gif

I was sceptical at first, but would now certainly recommend it - especially if like me you have lots of traffic-free country lanes to cycle on! smile.gif

Think its a good especially for those who cannot be trusted off lead!!

Just one question if the dog is on the right and he pulls straight towards the right....do you fall off sideways? I only ask because it seems like something mine would all do.

thats why i use it for my sammy because he has issues off-lead!!! dry.gif

in answer to your question if they pull or lunge sideways, you may feel a slight pull sideways but not enough to pull you off the bike. hes usually going that fast that he doesnt pull sideways, just goes forward.

Think i would also need to build floats on either side as she lunges into the sea!!
