What do you use and why did you opt for it.
I am just curious really.
I asked someone at the training classes what she thought was best and she just said it was personal preference.
When Elly is old enough (if her training goes to plan biggrin.gif ) i would like to have a go at agility and just wondered really with that in mind, what i would be better working with now or does it not really make any difference.

I use voice, clicker and whistle.

I also use my voice and clicker at agility and at obedience classes.

I use clicker because I find it quicker to get a behaviour from Jess, we use it for freeshaping at home, for obedience and for agility and when I am at College.

I use the whistle when walking, although I am careful not to burn out that cue when her and Trix decide to run off.

Exactly as above I must be a clone! No I said clone not clown!!!! laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

What I use depends on the circumstances I'm in and the dog.

I use all three, too. Clicker is used for teaching new stuff mostly, or for shaping. Whistle for recall and stop signal, voice for the rest.

Oh, and I use hand signals, too. biggrin.gif

Oh yep I use hand signals too! smile.gif

Voice for telling them what to do, whistle for recall, clicker for marking the right behaviour and shaping. Also use hand signals for sit, down and come-in-slowly.

Same as everyone else really biggrin.gif

Well it looks like i have lots to learn looking at your replies.
I guess using a whistle for recall must be a lot easier than hollering when you are out walking with them.

i use voice, hand signals and i tend to click and whistle with my mouth i never have enough pockets or hands to carry a whistle (i know its round youre neck but u still have to pick it up)or a clicker, just the above and a pocketfull of treats laugh.gif

I use all 3 . .although my 'clicker' is a sound I make to mark the instant a behaviour occurs . . I also bridge the behaviour using the same sound . . tis a similar method to ones used by marine mammal trainers biggrin.gif
