This is just to -*test*-('") the waters and to see how many people are interested. No dates or anything yet, just wanting to get numbers.

Kev (Withnelmoor) has kindly offered us his services, at a discount. He is based in Lancashire.

If you are interested, add your name below. All abilities welcome.

Hi Helen

You say all abilities...does that mean complete novices. Stanley is only coming up to 6 months old (is he too young?) and we both love training classes. He gets so excited, loves the socialisation etc. and I'd like to do more with him.

I think we'd both enjoy the day, would probably both be dodgy pupils, especially me, but I'd love to see what we (as a team) might be capable of.

Would everyone else attending be experienced, if so they may not want a nutty 6 month old and novice handler gate crashing. ph34r.gif

Helen - would have loved to come but unfortunatley too far north for me, being a southie wink.gif

Yup most definitely interested......diary permitting....I wonder if it's going to be in the Lancs/Yorks area and since there's quite a bunch of us up here if you also post up on the "events and meets" that this event might get more hits. I've seen some of Kevs training guides...excellent wink.gif

Sir Freddy- 03-25-2008
I may well be interested Helen although I would have to check with Kevin if Freddy would be able to attend as I would hate to mess up for others.

Helen- 03-26-2008
I'll get in touch with Kev and ask him to check this thread out and answer the questions. Once it's all finalised, I'll stick something up on the events/meets if we do need more people.

What sort of training are we talking about? Obviously we need all the help we can get here but would definatly need some idea of expectations!

Sir Freddy- 03-26-2008
Ok, if Kev is likely to check this out I will add my 'issues' with Freddy.

Freddy is 6 and a rescue Welshie, he has a psychological issue that sends him into escape mode periodically especially if he gets stressed - he will rip himself to get through fences etc. When he is ok his recall is pretty good although he does wander further than most spaniels (I am not too worried about this as he runs with Brittanys so they pull him out further and he does come back).

He has recently learned that rabbits and pheasants have some interest but he does not understand hunting as such.

He has never been very interested in toys but the use of a fluffy toy has got him interested in retrieving periodically.

He has had to retire from agility and I am wanting ways to tire him mentally and physically, if I could get him more motivated to retrieve I would have ways of playing with him that would be less demanding on his body.

I know I could potentially do this myself but my training time is primarily taken with my young Brittany and as I am struggling to keep Freddy motivated I would appreciate some expert spaniel help.

Freddy is not just gunshy, he is gun terrified and will never be able to come beating with me, this is purely to find a way to engage him.

Alternatively, if you feel Freddy would not really benefit from the training would my year old Brittany be able to 'gatecrash' for retrieve training and steadiness?

Very sorry for the delay...The kennels filled up for the BH and only just calming down...

Everyone and all dogs would be welcome...thats the idea of the day..we would not just concentrate on gundog work but issues that each of you had...On the day their would not just be myself training...Mike and Ren will also be their..

I appreciate that some dogs would not want to play all day so for those who have a dog thats possibly not as advanced you can work our fully trained dogs..and feel what its like handling one of them blink.gif

Please have a look at the web site www.gundogs.org.uk and you will see we use the most up to date training equipment and for those who have never expereinced a shoot day we can simulate it for you..shooting (no live birds killed) handling dogs...the beating line etc...

I see so many questions of here about training and springers in the field I thought it would be a good idea to offer the day and allow the members access to 3 full time PRO trainers..work some dogs and train yours...we will be limiting places to ensure those attending get the attention they require..

Please feel free to pm / e-mail me if you have ANY questions

Regards

Kev
