A Tribute to all rescuers, and in memory of Doc.

Why don't they want me, when I get old
Or become poorly, or don't do as I'm told
I'm too much of a burden, they don't have the time
To teach me some manners, then shout when I whine.

A man came to my house and took me away
Put me in a kennel, and there did I stay
So many went by me, didn't give me a glance
They just saw a problem, wouldn't give me a chance

I heard the staff talking, ''He's got one more day
Before 'you know what' happens'', what is that they say?
Then sudden excitement, ''Someone's on the phone
Its about the old springer, they'll find him a home!''

The next day a lady came up to my cage
Opened the door and did lead me away
Sais something about rescue, I didn't understand
All I could feel was the love of her hand

She took me home with her, and saw to my ills
Made me feel wanted, my needs were fulfilled
The months that I spent there seemed no time at all
As I learned how to play again with frisbee and ball

But then one day suddenly, this came to an end
I was ill, and I knew I must leave you my friend
So I made my last journey with you by my side
And I tried to tell you of my love and my pride

Now I'm at the Bridge, young and whole, all at play
And I know that we'll be reunited some day
And so until then in the meadow I'll wait
Until I see you come to me through the gate

And until that time, everywhere I will sing
Of the rescuers, the love and the hope that they bring
And so goodbye for now, my love and my friend
And always remember, this is not the end.

A great tribute to Doc and of course to Jackie and Roger.

I am choked, lovely, I think Jackie will like that,
