Poor Jess (11) lost her battle yesterday, she came into kennels because whe was too old to work and sadly we didn't manage to find her a forever home sad.gif . She had been ill for a week or so and was getting progressivly worse, in the end the vet couldn't stop her fitting and we had to let her go.

Please when you are thinking about a (or an additional) dog, think of the oldies, it is so very sad when they go to the bridge without knowing the comfort of their own loving family. We do our best to love and care for them but its not the same as having their forever home.

Have you registered with The Oldies Club, they're fantastic at helping to find older dogs good homes? They don't charge rescue anything you just have to fill in one of there online forms and send a photo of the dog, if we rehome a dog through there website use we send a small donation as a thank you but they don't expect it. smile.gif

Very sad, wish we had the space for an oldie (though I'm sure they would hate it with so many youngsters running about)

Run free sweetie.

Helena, I so understand what you are saying but with some adjustment it is not completely out of the question depending on your home and set-up.

Mugi really does not like the younger dogs around the house but with juggling they all get cuddles and attention. Mugi loves te sanctuary of his crate which is large, covered so he can't see the irritating youngsters being mad and by my side of the sofa. He also gets his individual cuddle times when it is just him and me in the living room and he is sooooo fit and active.

It is not ideal but it is so much better than what he would have possibly had if I hadn't given him a home when he needed it and I know he is happy and fulfilled. It so depends on the dog so please don't rule it out completely cos there might be an oldie out there who would fit in.
