As promised, here is a full report on the hike I did in the upper Lauterbrunnen Valley.
I started off where the public road ends and walked up the valley towards the mountains:
Turning back you get a view of the valley with its mostly vertical walls:
There used to be silver and lead mining here, the ruins of the smelting hut are right beside the path:
The path climbs up the steep valley side, but there are views to compensate for the effort:
At last the gradient becomes easier, walking upon a grassy shoulder towards the glacier in the background. I am aiming for a little tarn at the foot of the glacier.
After another steep climb the tarn is reached - it is no longer quite full, but enough water remains for a swim...

There's even a piece of flat ground up here!
Walking back I did a little loop, following the runoff from the glacier with great views of the massive peak of the Jungfrau.

Looking at the water you can see why in German the glacier runoff is calld 'glacier milk'...
Instead of walking back high above the valley I descended to the bottom as soon as I could to get some views of the countless cascades and falls in the area:
