My favorite walk is literally outside my doorstep biggrin.gif as I live at Sussex University.

Stanmer Park is located just on the outskirts of Brighton and can be reached via the main A27 road.

The park itself is extensive and leads on to parts of the southdowns walk as well as the park itself.

There are sheep and cattle in some areas but there is a walk directly around the main house that you can use that does not take you near to livestock. Good Parking, a small tea house, small Garden Centre and Stanmer Park House, Church and Village. There are toilets both in the park and the university (our bars are open on campus and we often get walkers popping in).

If you don't drive you can still get to the park easily as we have Falmer train station and any No 25 bus will take you to the university which is at the entrance to the grounds.

I tend to walk around the back of the park rather than the front main entrance and I rarely see other people. This is a map:

Alot of the grounds are open access to the public with good gates and stiles that are dog friendly. There are also several dew ponds if your dog fancies a dip. The woods are fabulous and the park is having extensive work done to it to improve acess to the grounds for people with disabilities.
