Stanley our sprocker is absolutely obsessed with the teenage farm lad that lives down the lane, he came up today with some apples for us and Stanley was uncontrollably excited and is always like this when he sees him, he has a quad so every time he sees a quad he starts getting excited ,digging barking etc.We thought at first it was the quad but it seems its James.How do we deal with it?

Have tried geeting him to ignore Stanley , give him treats when he sits etc but obviously as he only sees him every few days its very hard to know what to do?

help please oh wise ones!

If Stanley is obsessed with the farm lad, then I would have thought de-sensitization training as you would do with collies chasing vehicles or sheep chasing.

There are a number of threads on here about it, basically it involves sitting with Stanley and said farm lad riding backward and forwards past Stanley till Stanley is sick of sight of said lad, and probably probably lad of Stanley

been doing it for almost a year with him all that happens is that he gets worse- need to get the farm lad to move i think!!
