Cute - but quite frankly, I wouldn't want one! Coatwise, I think you get the worst of both breeds: curls not tight enough, but still able to catch any dirt....

Frankly, what's the point of these designer mixes, apart from making money? Is there a true need for a new breed - in that case I'd be interested to read about aims and reasons and efforts. unsure.gif

I know some breeders here in Edmonton that make "new breeds" and what the ones I know are doing is try'n to get the best out of each breed... But I never know for sure... I think when you mix breed you could breed out that bad things in a breed (like health issues) But I don't know if it works.

my friend has a "sproodle" we call him, a result of an accidental mating between a gamekeepers springer bitch and the black miniature poodle up the road. He cost her £50, 5 yrs ago, and he is delightful. A complete nutter of a dog, much like a springer in a black curly coat !

The thing which annoys me over here about all these designer mixes is the price that breeders charge. My neighbour has 2 labradoodles, which are not a recognised KC breed, they are in effect, what my dad calls a mutt, aka a crossbreed, yet they paid over £250 more than what I paid for 2 pure bred springers. It does wind me up Im afraid, all these so called 'designer breeds' that seem to be flooding the market now dry.gif

Most of you know I have a Labradoodle - he is mad enough for 2 Springers! What a Springerdoodle would be like I can't imagine!

PS _ I didn't pay silly money for him, he came to me as a rescue after his owners husband threatened to have him PTS because he'd spent most of his 10 months on his own in the garden and hadn't learnt not to 'playbite' - took us 3 months to teach him, he's now crashed out at the top of the stairs watching me through one eye........

I'd love a Labradoodle, but only because they look like adorable scruffy mutts, and I'd never pay over whatever is cost to vaccinate etc. They really are just cute cross breeds aren't they? rolleyes.gif

Mind you, I don't hold much with pedigrees anyway, except if it means you have more chance of a well bred, healthy dog from responsible breeders. Tess is a doG knows what mix of all sorts, Bailey is a pure bred but with no papers, and I wouldn't mind if I found out she was a mix.

I don't understand people paying hundreds and hundreds for a mix breed dog that's not needed working or show. Is there dog snobbery?

Course, that's just my very humble opinion. wink.gif

Good grief, what is that???? Am I the only one that doesn't think it's cute???? blink.gif

Well most of us seem to think that particular example has some kind of appeal, but being a cross breed, nobody knows what it's siblings have turned out like.....

Not keen, sorry. ph34r.gif

looks like a small bear biggrin.gif

Penel- 07-18-2008
It doesn't have personal appeal for me, I wouldn't want one, but then I wouldn't want any poodle cross, they just aren't the type for me. But then neither are springers tongue.gif and I appreciate setters, cockers and lurchers aren't everyone else's cup of tea either biggrin.gif I used to think lurchers were spindly, ugly, pointy - now I think they are graceful elegant and beautiful !
