What a horrific occurrence, I'll never be able to understand why people can do such things.... sad.gif

But I don't understand: the dog was microchipped, how come there was no record of this? How is this possible in your country? Here, the vet who does the microchipping will also be obliged to send in a record of it - I mean, that's the whole point of it! One of the main reasons for mandatory microchipping was to prevent such acts of cruelty by being able to trace the owner....

Obviously this may not be the case here, but it was only when we moved last December, and I tried to change the address attached to Tess's chip, that I found out it was never registered.

Imagine my horror, knowing if she had gone missing in the 3 years we had her, I might never have found her. Either our vet failed to send the paperwork, or it got lost in the post. Partly my fault too though, because I didn't realise I'd never had the paperwork through.

All sorted now, but it can happen. ohmy.gif unsure.gif

I can't read the report but from comments can imagine what it says - words fail me, the thought of doing something so awful to a living creature makes me feel ill.

I was reading in a paper recently of a little staffy type pup that had been beaten so badly it had to have its leg amputated. You may think this story is bad enough but worse than that, the culprits were a group of 4 & 5 year olds ohmy.gif . Just what sort of people are they going to grow up to be!!!!

springergirl- 06-16-2008
oh my god i cannot believe what i have just read!!!!! i hope its a case of what goes around comes around and whoever did this gets their comeuppance!!

words fail me, i cannot believe someone is capable of doing this to this poor defenceless little dog. what a horrible way to die. run free little one with all the other springlets at the bridge xxxxx

I'm not going to read it either. The things you've said about it is enough for me not to even go there. RIP little one, the ones responsible will pay one day mad.gif

Dromtrasna- 06-16-2008
THIS p****s me off - a fine and maybe prison!!!! yeh right

Come on I wish people would get real - this is cruelty in the extreme and perhaps if the person who done this was tortured like this things might change. Extreme I know but how could anyone do this - this makes me really wild and want to inflict the same sort of pain on the person who caused it in the first place.

I wish I hadnt read this - there can be absolutely no exscuse with the rescue societies that are around today - a phone call was all it took to contact someone would have taken the dog given half the chance.

I hope they get their come uppance and experience the same neglect and pain this poor, defenceless animal did.

sad.gif That is just too painful to put into words. What the hell is wrong with people? why would someone do that? sad.gif
mad.gif I do hope what goes around comes around and they suffer a very similar fate. Not that it helps that poor defenceless dog sad.gif

Run free little man - there are lots of springy friends at the bridge to show you the love you deserved in life smile.gif

Over here breeders microchip pups themselves and they have to be chipped to be registered with the IKC, there are a lot of pups that are chipped when they are sold and the papers for registration are given to the new owners to send off - so if they dont bother sending them off because of the cost then the chip numbers are never registered - this is quite common if a dog is not being shown and is only a so called family pet.

The most frightening aspect of these cases is that there is a direct corilization of the abuse of animals and children and women. In addition, most serial killers started with the abuse of animals. mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

I can't see how the chip isn't registered. Each chip is unique and is identifiable by it's number, the number associates the chip to a company that manufactured it, that company sells the chips in batches so each chip is traceable from the manufacturer to the distributor, the chips are then sold to a microchipper who also has a unique number associating them with them that chip.

I've had a problem with trying to register a chip that I'd had delivered in the morning, implanted in the afternoon and tried to register the same day, the system flagged it up because it was still registered to the company I'd bought it from and not me.

I do hope these things that did this are caught and for once justice is served, or at least their names made public so some one else can give them what they deserve angry:
