Freddy is back from 9 days in kennels - and without sedation or anything other than a huge ragger and Brice for company.
After he was seen by a psychologist a few years ago it was felt he would only be able to be kennelled with sedation but my health needs as they have been and the fact he is a destructive escapologist mean that being left safely it is the only way. He managed a couple of days reasonably over Crufts so this was the next big -*test*-('"). (Background for those that don't know Freddy was that he lived exclusively in a kennel for his first 13 months and he was never socialised, he has struggled with confinement since).
HE HAS BEEN FINE

.
When I arrived I drove past the kennel block and as any normal dog he was gobbing off at the front of the run. The owner was busy however and so I had to sit and wait where I could see Freddy but he couldn't see me for 10 mins. He soon settled and was alertly watching the birds fly etc but no stress.
He has eaten, he hasn't self-mutilated and I even have some bedding back

. As he and Brice came out of the run they were ecstatic to see me but only as a normal dog would be and Freddy sat on first command when he was leaping like a loon.
Apparently he has challenged at every opportunity but in a stubborn welsh way - it was the best news I could have as it means he has coped well.
His bark is now a hoarse squeak and he is sound asleep by my side.
One happy and relieved Mum.
