Kizzy has been limping on and off for a few days but when we checked her out she didn't mind us squeezing or checking her pads.
Yesterday as it hadn't got better we took her to the vets.
Turns out it's a good job we did!
Apparently she has damaged her "stifle tendon" which is her knee to you and me.
She has to have xrays under anaesthetic, then a probe and possibly surgery. sad.gif
Bless her she just put up with all the prodding and is now wagging her tail as usual, although the pain killers make her sleepy.
She is going in on Monday for the xrays.
We are so grateful we are insured so she can get the right treatment whatever the cost (around £2500 apparently!!!)

Thanks for all your replies. I've passed on your wishes to Kizzy who, to be honest, is enjoying all the oohs and ahs even though she's not sure what they're for. lol
I'll let you know how it goes on Monday.

Well it's not good news.
Kizzy has today been admitted into hospital in Nantwich to have surgery on her leg. She has damaged her knee but also her hip is compromised.
She has to have her knee done and the nerves to her hip clipped.
She will be immobile for some time and will take 6 months to heal altogether.
We have to cover the laminate in the hall, keep her on a lead for 6 months and try to keep her calm. How on earth do you keep a 2 year old springer quiet???
Apparently the hip is a fault in her pedigree and we are lucky to have caught it so early.
Anyway, she is in until tomorrow then the healing begins. Buster will be ahppy to have her back, he's lost without her. So am I to be honest. sad.gif

Poor Kizzy and poor you sad.gif

Get a crate if you haven't already got one and a kong, both will be invaluable.

Hope the op goes well and sending loads of healing thoughts

Oh poor Kizzie, hope she starts feeling better soon - no idea about the keeping calm bit, but I suspect a crate will have some part to play - suggest you pm angel and ask for her advice after everything she's just been through with angel's hip surgery.

Good luck

Here comes update number 2.
Kizzy wasn't allowed home today because she ended up having to have both hips done and the vet wanted to keep her sedated.
We called today and apparently she is getting a record amount of attention because she has perfected her sad face.
She can come home tomorrow if:
We cover the laminate flooring.
Put a dog gate at the bottom of the stairs.
Keep her away from Buster.
Only let her out for 5 mins in the garden for toilet.
She keeps her collar on (she long ago worked out how to remove one).

No pressure then!

I just can't wait to ger her home, the house is very empty without her. sad.gif

Glad your getting Kizzy back home tomorrow smile.gif Will it be a long recovery period for her?

Oh the poor love, have you got a crate cos she will need crate rest too.

Sending her and you big hugs, its going to be a rough time for you guys sad.gif

No we don't have crate, wonder if you can hire them.
She will have a recovery period of 6 months so we are in for a long haul.
