Rolo (10 1/2 yo) went to the bridge today, he had been ill for a few weeks and the vet thought it may have been an inflamed splean. However when he went in for x rays and surgery it transpired he had serious liver cancer/desease and at best only had 6 weeks to live all of which would have seen him getting more and more ill. My wife therefore made the brave decision not to wake him up. She rescued him at 18 months from a family that couldn't cope with his Springer bouncyness, we started dating a year or so after and he has been with us ever since. He has had a great life and we have always lived or worked somewhere where he got loads of exercise and smells, last night I took him out for the last time and although I was careful he still had a paddle and a bark at the ducks and I thought he would be fine.
Heather is devastated and Jet the BL has never known home without his friend, I only hope he is running free and chasing the smells, we will spread his ashes somewhere where we can walk with him as often as we can.
