Daughter just noticed red rash under Baileys front leg.

Have bathed with epson salt and water, dried off & put on some wound powder.
Was a bit moist, but think this was from licking, wonder if it's a bite or sort of allergy. Will keep my eye on it. Anybody got any advice unsure.gif

Have you been anywhere different recently?
How's it looking this morning?

Angel sometimes has pyoderma, im not saying it is that as it is quite hard to tell by a pic. Check around the folds near his mouth (sort of where the skinfolds over each other) his other "armpits" and the folds of the skin around the genitals and see if there is anything slightly similar.

I use a weak solution of hibiscrub, then rinse and dry thoroughly - i find it easier to use bounty (not the chocolate biggrin.gif ) to dry it. just press a bit on rather than rubbing so as not to make it sore.

Sorry not much help! it could just be nettle rash!

Hope Bailey is looking better this morning

Ooohhh that looks a bit sore. Go to the vet if you’re not happy about it (probably anti biotics, maybe a medicated shampoo, steroid cream, Viacutan and a buster collar!).

At home, I’d go with hibi scrub twice a day and spray it with CS half a dozen times as well. Stop him licking it. Maybe a couple of baths in a decent shampoo.

The cause – could be a reaction to a plant or something like that. Could be creepy crawlies (dust or harvest mites?). What’s his diet? If he’s susceptible to skins probs, then good food and supplementing with a decent oil is worth a go, although this will take a month or two to show a result.

The vet route will be the quickest way to get him some relief and pinpoint the cause if its recurring.

Ollie became a habitual arm pit licker (his, not mine) – had to use bitter apple spray on him a few times to break the habit.

Hi!
Thanks for all your replies. Not been any diffrent places & no other signs of it anywhere else on his body.
We have been lucky smile.gif Bailey has never had any other problems in the past. In fact i feel a bit guilty with him being short haired, i'll admit i don't spend as much time checking him over after a walk like i do with the springers.

Good news smile.gif the redness has gone & just little lumps like insect bites. Have bathed & put on wound powder again this morning, if no further improvements over next few days a trip to vets

Sorry took till this afternoon to reply ph34r.gif
