Does anyone have a recommendation for a good trainer in Somerset area. Also does anyone have any good ideas on how to train a very naughty springer who has no interest in food at all.
Unfortunately she now seems to be getting vvvv naughty and has gotten very bolshy recently taking less notice of us than before and I'm really struglling as I've never had a dog that wouldn't do anything for food

Thanks

Personally i would take away his favourite toys in the house and only use them when you want him to do something....where is the problem? House? Walks?

I would ignore bad behaviour unless it is dangerous....and rewrd with praise, attention, toys, treats when he is good.

The main thing is you have to make yourself 10000x times more interesting than what he wants to do....such as if he is ignoring you and walking away i would work on high pitched voices acting completely do-lally and using his toys to play with him as madly as you can...go completely balistic with them like they are the best thing ever.

Im not sure how good his sit/stay/wait etc is but maybe doin what i do....get him to sit and wait then hide his toy in bushes trees and walk back to him then let him go find them....mental stimulation will wear him out faster and for longer than miles of walking.....

Hope this helps.

how old is she? Would certainly follow Ellie's advice but just wondering if this is the dreaded 'teenage phase' unsure.gif

Shes 15 months. Think she may be having a rebellious phase. and our new rabbits are ever so much more exciting than me unless I smell like them of course.
I'm sure if we persevere she'll grow out of it (I hope)
Thanks for the tips I'll try the toy thing and see how we go.
Hopefully someone might know of a good trainer in our area too

Hi Tracy, we know of probably the best trainer in Somerset at Ilminster , he predominantly trains gundogs but is totally orientated around cockers and springers. You get the run of the land at Dillington house.I will PM you his number
