Will post a pic later but a slip lead is a one piece lead cum collar which loops through an "O" ring and has an adjustable rubber "stop" on the lead to prevent the dog from backing out of the lead. Hopeless at explaining things!!! laugh.gif

Oh yes and they are great for people who have difficulty fastening triggers/snap fasteners etc 'cause there aren't any! ph34r.gif tongue.gif

It sounds as if it would work in a similar fashion to a choke collar, but in a kinder way, Am i right?

I am struggling with pulling, we use a canny collar for long walks to preserve my arms but our training school doesn't like them (and neither does Alfie) so i am using a standard collar for teaching heel but am getting nowhere fast.

I really like slip leads, they are so easy to put on and easy to put in your pocket. I would be interested in one as my wonderful OH left a slip lead on the field whilst "picking up" yesterday and went back today and found it......sliced to bits by a mower sad.gif So would be great if I could see a picture of one too wink.gif they sound great.

Now I would be careful using them on a real puller of a springer because they should really be used slack lead walking but if you can get advice from your training school on their use that would be great Cathy wink.gif

Will put up pics tomorrow Steve sorry but I've been a bit distracted today with arrangements for a certain ball mad Wocker! laugh.gif laugh.gif

I agree with you Steve I wouldn't use a slip on a "puller" either, can't you find somewhere to off lead exercise him BEFORE you take him out on the lead Alfiem (sometimes helps a bit if they have run off some energy first then they are more inclined to pay attention wink.gif) ?

Thats exactly what i did yesterday we went on a really long walk, much longer than i anticipated as there was a closed off bridge that we should have walked over, anyway 6.5 miles later and he was still pulling !!!!

Thanks for the advice, will keep working on it

Steve-O- 09-27-2008
ohmy.gif 6.5 miles!! Can you tie your shoe laces without bending down now? laugh.gif

That's a long way to be pulled Cathy, or did you let him have a really long run off? That's the best way to curb some of that springer energy. During the earlier days with ours we used to find a large secure bit of land with plenty of interest and let them have a good run and play....then try the lead, the walk back was nearly always better than the walk there smile.gif

Those slip leads look great biggrin.gif
How do I go about ordering? Just PM you?
XX

fifer- 09-28-2008
Yes thanks, just pm me with the colour and I'll see what I can get from my suppliers, and of course what length you'd like the finished lead to be. I do have to say the baby blue is a strange colour more of a bluey lilac - like lavendar maybe? I think the colour does look fairly close in the pic.
