Hi all. Just to let you know, Poppy is now at home in Bristol with us, and seems to be settling in. We have been for a few walks today, which she seems to have enjoyed. She is a lovely girl, having met us and a few more people and dogs today, she is a credit to her previous owner's. We will keep you updated as the days go by. Thankyou to Sally, for getting all this going. Selina for all the advice, and a big thankyou to Jill who battled the storms today to meet us with Poppy. biggrin.gif

I knew she was going to have such a wonderful life as soon as I met you and you called her Pops smile.gif just call it instinct lol you also had the liver treats poo bags and everything to hand lol she was so good though and timed everything right didn't she lol
She must have known her new mum would have a poo bag to hand lol

You are a lucky girl poppy
You had a wonderful mum before who was so heartbroken to give you up but who put you first and that to me is Love.
Now you have a wonderful new family and you are going to have a great life.

It was a pleasure for me to transport this lovely springer girl to you and your family.

Keep posting Jayne pics are a must lol
She is gorg and I could have easily become a failed transporter and sneaked her home with me biggrin.gif

Hello again peeps! Well Poppy Did us proud on her first night, she settled down at about 1130pm after her last walk. I spent the night awake in bed worrying she would cry, and she slept soundly, as did hubby blink.gif Well she met Jess (choc lab)
today, one of the dogs I walk. Poppy was great, a little bemused I think with Jess bouncing around. I put poppy on a long line, and after a while let her go with it trailing behind her. Jess and Pops just bounded over the fields, and streams and had a ball. ohmy.gif Now my next question. Which brush is best for springers lol forgot how tangled with twigs and sticky on things they get. Just spent 40 mins grooming her with my only hair brush, which she loved sent her to sleep. Ruby cat is still hiding up stairs, and has not really ventured down. Lots of work to do there I think. Poppy barks a bit at some men, then us girls are guilty of that .lol biggrin.gif

Firstly, my best wishes to you, Jayne and well done for giving this little dog a lovely new home.
Good luck, Poppy in your new home.
I have one of those brushes that is spiky on one side and ordinary brush on the other. The spiky bit has little plastic bobbles on the end of the spikes so it doesn't scratch the skin. I live in the country and getting tangles stuff out of Moxie is a regular! I also have to resort to a little pair of nail scissors at times, especially for those thistle things.
Looking forward to photos.

Glad she's doing well and has been initiated into your dogwalking business! Hope Ruby soon comes round smile.gif

Brushes - I have a variety - one which is bristles one side and metal bits with bobbles the other and a rubber zoomgroom brush which I use for Tizzy as she's a bit delicate about her hair being pulled and seems to have tender skin. For Bilbo who doesn't worry too much I tend to use a slicker brush and a comb. From the picture she seems to have a coat more like Bilbo. However some of the sticks and the burrs just have to be picked out by hand I find. Just watch out for those little sluggy things that seem to get caught in the hair, yuk. There is a grooming section on the forum and on the main site where you might get some helpful advice.

Generally dogs with sep anx have a tendency towards nervousness and she is probably just not sure of some men (who can blame her, lol). When Bilbo was young he used to bark at every man he saw, I used to distract him with treats and reward him everytime we passed a man. Now he likes men more than women I think laugh.gif
