My Springer is 12 months old now,and for the last few months she has been pooing upwards of five to anything like 15 times when we go out for a walk. She gets really excited when we go out. Is this down to excitement,or could there be something wrong with her? I'm going through nappy sacks like you wouldn't believe! Can anybody help or is it a trip to the vet?

What is she fed? My dog poos once to twice a day.

I will normally get Angel to poo before we go out - but if whilst out on a walk she gets really excited then she may do a little one which can be quite soft. This can also happen if she has had the bin out!

stellar can do three or four whilst out, getting progressively runnier - I think this is through excitement (she has a more nervous, excitable temperament than her brother - she does the excited wee thing too) 15 times does sound a lot though - i think it might be worth adjusting her diet to see if that helps

Jack does 3 or 4 on a walk, more if he's been swimming plus at least 2 in the garden. Bella does 3-4 a day. I thought this may reduce when I started feeding raw but they still do the same number albeit smaller ones.
As for Woody well, just to give you the jist, one of his nicknames was the s**t machine . Regardless of what we fed him he did loads.

Poos getting softer throughout a long walk are perfectly natural - but if she is squatting all the time it seems a bit excessive! Are the outdoor walks the only highlight of the day, or how do you keep her busy? If there is no physical reason for the pooing, it might be useful if you write about your daily routine....

Swiss - can you expand on this please?
I've wondered if feeding a bit more at night, less in the morning, would be better (assuming the dog is otherwise at a good weight and the food quantity is about right).
Thanks, John

Maybe its has something to do with "flight or fight", The poo Angel does before i take her out is normal firm poo, whilst out if she gots really excited she may do another which is slighter softer and so on.

Well, the excitement may come on top of it, but basically it's just the movement when out on a walk that gets the bowels moving too. Things are moving through faster, and thus the body has less time to concentrate the poo and recover some of the moisture.

It can also depend what kind of food the dog is fed on. TBH a dog does 15 poos a day, even on a long walk, this is too much in my opinion.

Mine go twice ..first one is solid followed by a runny one...nice.....they then do, what i call Phantom poo's. they look like they are going but nothing comes out.
