Bad man!! dry.gif mad.gif So glad, if someone had to have Frankie so young, at least it was you and you are taking very good care of him. Your friend must be mortified that her dog was used to breed by such an unscrupulous breeder.

Good luck, and licks and wags from Bailey and Tess!!

So long as the puppy was eating a food that suited it, 5 weeks isn't too early in an emergency - I took on my oldest dog Bonnie when she was 5 weeks. She came home to two adult dogs who gave her confidence and taught her 'dog' and she's never been a problem. The problem often comes when a puppy leaves its mother and litter mates to go to a home with no other dogs - then humans have to teach it bite inhibition etc. This can be when it all goes out of the window.

Glad the tail docking issue is being looked into.

so glad things are looking up!! biggrin.gif

Pleased to hear Frankie is on the up.

My personal view – probably unpopular, but I don't care – is that these people will only stop when they don’t make money from it. And someone providing a stud dog shares responsibility.

To be honest, I agree too, and as they say, it takes two to tango! Both should take responsibility for the welfare of the pups. I have been approached by a few people about breeding Bailey, and you never know do you (apart from the lovely Roly, who Bailey want to marry, obviously!! wink.gif )

Then of course, there is the problem of who you sell the dogs to, my family wouldn't be impressed at having 6 Springy pups foisted upon them because I didn't trust anyone else to look after them, so it woudn't be much of a money making opportunity!! rolleyes.gif wink.gif

Hi I agree to these comments, however my friend that provided the stud dog was totally unaware he was a breeder, he told her some story about wanting puppies, he was going to sell 1 or 2 and keep the rest for his family etc.
She was completely taken in by it, and agreed as she knew her dog ,chip was a lovely dog, and she knew I wanted a good tempered puppy, so her stud fee was in fact my poorly little frankie,( who as my earlier post explained she is helping look after as she has other dogs for him tolearn from etc.

She is very angry her and her dog were used in this way.She did not profit from this at all as she only did it so i could have a puppy!!

The breeder has now gone to Turkey until 1st september. Frankie so far is improving he actually nipped his dad on the nose!!He is on a very light diet until today he was on hills id from the vet, today they told us to introduce some puppy food I have got james wellbeloved , it is a worry if he will develop the runs again on this and dehydrate but we will have to try, will mix it with his other food to start.

Hi there

I am so sorry to hear about Frankie.

I am also a member of a group dedicated to stamping out bad breeders and puppy farms. They have a consumer number to phone if you have bought a sick puppy.

They also have a name and shame page. The group link in with other groups around the country too who name and shame bad breeders.

This is the link - but please be aware some of the pictures are upsetting. But you will get support from others on the forum who have the same worries as you have.

http://www.dogs-r-us.org/

But please stay with ST too.

We are all praying Frankie recovers.

Poor Frankie..what a terrible start in life.. I do hope his next few weeks, months and years are a whole lot better.

I myself have been approached by a guy on the local playing field about breeding from my dog..he is an 8mth old cocker so clearly not ready for that yet.
blink.gif

I only know this chap to say hello to, I do know that his 2 dogs, a cocker and an akita are well looked after and socialised but I also know from conversation that he sees puppies as a money making machine and for that reason there is no way I would allow my dog as a stud dog.

I think you only learn about the horrors and knock on effects of bad breeding from sites like this and I think the general public are unaware of just what goes on.

Fingers crossed for Frankie

a very sad story, and not touching the whats right or wrongs of it I'm glad that you have frankie and hopefully he will pull through and he is a lucky puppy. as far as your friend goes, lets face it, if it wasnt her dog it would have been another. Life throws us some very cruel lessons, I am sure your friend would act differntly had she known.

do keep us posted on frankie getting better smile.gif

i can only echo what has already been said hunny, i do hope Frankie pulls through and has many happy years with you xxx

Yes, I wanted to add my best wishes that Frankie recovers well.
I live in Cornwall too.
The best outcome from this is that Frankie gets well and strong, and you are able to warn other people about people breeding for the wrong reasons.
I had Moxie from a very reputable breeder in Cornwall who has his own stud dog.
Do make sure that this man is named.
My best wishes to you for a good outcome.

Fingers crossed for Frankie's continuing improvement. Hope he does well with your friend, and the fact that she's been willing to take Frankie in short term until he's well enough to come back to you, shows she is taking responsibility for her dog's offspring.
