I read a couple of post about freezers and switching to raw meat diet.
I still have my old four draw type in the garage and thought no probs I'll use that.
Well today my order from Landywoods turned up. I saw it all on thought oh dear that not going to fit. Luckly my mum turned up, calmed me down and started to help. We managed to rearrange the human food freezer in side, and repack the frozen meat in smaller portions and finally got it to fit. Mum took home some human food to make room in the freezer for dog food!

Firstly without my mums sensible head I'd be force feeding the dogs by now to get the food eaten! blink.gif

And secondly I need to buy a bigger freezer!!!!! Please tell me I'm not the first person to do this? sad.gif

Otherwise new diet going very, so glad I changed.

There is one piece of equipment one needs when feeding raw, well helps having it anyway...an extra freezer. Have you seen this most helpful thread ?

When I was looking at freezers, I thought I had picked the right size. The salesman told me to get the next size larger. He was right wink.gif

That thread was a great help - I'm thinking about Raw but think I'll have to order frozen as when approaching our local butchers came up against a brick wall-

No1 - Said "I suppose I could get some of the stuff on the list if I really had to"
No2 - Gave me a lecture on feeding raw to dogs and said I would end up spending hundreds of pounds at the vets"

Luckily MIL had a small chest freezer they no longer wanted and we have a large spare freezer in garage already plus house freezer so we should be OK.

I must add that I also got advice from FIL/DIL(?), telling me that feeding raw makes a dog vicious - I wouldn't mind he's never had one and doesn't come to our house if he can help it bacause he doesn't like mine (infact he hasn't even seen Bella yet!)

I dont feed mine raw yet tho when we move there is meant to be a marvellous butcher close at hand so Im hoping too. But just wanted to say I have been given the same advice, by an older lady who Ive been friends with for years. Oh I will turn my dogs viscious, they'll get a taste for blood, Im being irresponsible with children in the house blah blah blah blah blah.

The la-*test*-('") bit of 'advice' she has offered me after I warned her about tics in the area is that cos we dont have any sheep nearby I dont need to worry about the ticks being sheep ticks so they're less likely to carry tick borne diseases!!! Ok... blink.gif

Sorry for moving off topic a bit biggrin.gif

It gets worse when you have a human food freezer, a large dog food freezer and then you have to go buy another freezer to fit in the cold game you are acquiring for training young Chase.

well done mum!

I got a chest freezer for the dogs off freecycle, then I had to pay an electrician to put electric in the shed for it .......

I have the same problem... But we don't want to go out and buy an extra freezer so what I have done is turned to door part of my freezer into hendrix's side and only buy for 2 or 3 weeks at a shot. this leaves the rest of the freezer for us humans... lol good job though.
