Meet Benson

Apologies for the quality of the photos, it was dark by the time I got home.

Well, Benson is 4 months old and he is, in effect, Jago's brother. He has the same mother and father but from Molly's (his mum) second litter.

He was reserved at 4 weeks old by someone who turned with his daughter two weeks later and confirmed he wanted him but then never returned or contacted the breeder leaving Benson with no new home to go to.

The breeder, who trials springers and has two 4 month old springers to train, would not be able to give Benson the attention he deserves so she made me an offer I could not refuse.Big smile

He is such a bomb proof little pup who did not make a noise on the 40 mile trip home and is retrieving tennis balls and coming to his name very quickly.

I'll get some better photos tomorrow.

Steve

And what does Jago think biggrin.gif

SteveL- 10-07-2008
Jago is a little bemused at the moment. Benson told Jago off earlier because Jago was getting a bit too much. Jago's face was a picture biggrin.gif

What a great looking dog! And it sounds like he has landed on his feet! smile.gif
He's the spit of Jago ! like a 'mini me'!

Had never heard of clumbers until recently...and would be interested in learning more - what's the breed like?

They are a breed that is full of character. Not as manic as springers can be but not as slow as some people think.

They do have some health issues with eyes and hips which many breeders are trying to remedy by judicious breeding.

They are not breed for the house proud though. They moult continuously, not just spring and autumn, and they shed prodigious amounts.

For all of that, once you meet a Clumber you are smitten.
