Well Simon, Jennifer and I + 5 Cavs have just returned from a week at the caravan at Little Dumpledale Farm, near Haverfordwest.

Little Dumpledale Farm consists of 3 holiday cottages - one is a farmhouse and the other 2 are converted farm buildings, + a large static caravan. There is also 'Four Acres' available for rent this year, which is about a mile away and is a massive family home.

Each cottage and the caravan have their own extremely well-fenced private garden. Fencing is at least 6', as lots of sighthounds visit!

There are many lovely walks across the surrounding fields and even a couple of ponds that lively spaniels would enjoy dunking in.

Within about a 20-30 minute drive are the lovely sandy beaches of Pembrokeshire. Many of these are dog-friendly, or only have partial dog-bans, with part of the beach being accessible to dogs all year.

Our favourite beach was Freshwater West - because of the rip currents, it's not suitable for family bathing, so the dog lovers tend to go there, as there aren't many kiddies. Sand dunes, rock pools, lovely golden sand stretching on and on ... our dogs loved this beach + several others!

Little Dumpledale has an outdoor swimming pool, which is heated by solar power. I'm sure this is a good idea in principle, but it does require the sun to shine! Having said this, we did brave the pool a few times. Even better is the 6-seater hot-tub, which is situated in its' own wooden building. The hot tub can be used until midnight and you may take your own drinks in if you use plastic glasses!

Last but by no means least - the hospitality!! Carol and Trevor are tremendous hosts and offered such a warm welcome to both dogs and guests. Considering Carol and Trevor both have jobs away from the farm, it's amazing that they find the time to have a party or bbq for all the guests as a get-to-know-you. This is of course as long as they don't have pressing commitments, but I'm led to believe the socialising is a frequent occurrence. Carol put on a lavish spread for everyone on Bank Holiday Monday and a good laugh was had by all.

Added to this, we were all invited to join Carol and Trevor at their 'local' on Thursday evening. The pub serves wonderful food and everyone had a great time.

We have another 2 holidays booked at Dumpledale over the next 12 months, which I think shows how much we enjoyed it.

Oh, apparently there's no limit to the no. of dogs you take either!

We've been there twice, stayed in Swallows Dance each time. Had a fab time both times, Carol and Trevor are superb hosts ! Beware owners of poo rolling dogs though, if you go for walks from the farm, your dog will come back covered in cowpoo !!! laugh.gif (there is a hose in the farmyard tho !!)
