We have noticed in the last week or so that Olliver has a slight limp. It is only noticeable after he has been asleep.
He had this when he was much younger and then we were told he would need pinning but it seemed to stop and and he has been great for months now.
Lately he has become obsessed with retrieving and we have been throwing dummie or a ball on most of his walks.
We have only started doing this recently so im wondering if it is the action of stopping and twisting when picking up that has started this again.
Today i stopped the throwing and just hid his toy in the woods for him to find.
Have i done too much exercise for a dog this age (10months)??
I know if i take him to the vets they will xray and im weary about him having GA again so soon after his previous ones. Im not sure whether to see if the condition improves after less exercise and if it does then does this mean he should never do retrieving?

Poor Oliver sad.gif Im not saying it is this but i remember seeing this post a while back about how dogs can damage their leg by the twisting action you mention.

He may of just pulled a muscle, but it makes very interesting reading all the same

just looked through that topic, very interesting. I think i need to just carry on with the hiding toy and find it and see how he goes.
Thanks smile.gif

I would say deffo cut back on the ball, J did a similar thing in the summer, after I got the chuckitt out (now binned) Had a huge cruciate panic and whisked him off to the vet. He was told to rest it for a week only lead walks. And given Metacam.

Metacam was ditched and he stuck to lead walks and was fine in a week.

If your not overly concerned, try a week on the lead wink.gif See if he's any better then.
