There are loads of fab ones you can pick up from the tourist info in the lake district. They are A5 booklets and cost a couple of £ for about 5 walks, they are really easy to follow and the area around there is out of this world. My favorites are the ones around Elterwater, whether you are in the valley or on the tops you get an all round view and most have places to eat/drink on route.

Lancashire:

Formby beach - sand dunes and great beach. I don't think there are any restrictions but I haven't been for years.

Crook O'Lune - http://www.citycoastcountryside.co.uk/site...ic-sites-p11664

Beacon Fell - http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/environment/c...tes/beaconf.asp

Cumbria:

Grizedale Forest in the Lakes - good dog walking country at this time of year as there are no sheep.

Can't think of anymore dog, friendly places.

couldnt find this earlier but as i cant sleep i az found it! Not a walk for a misty/rainy day... but ive gotta say this walk took my breath away , soooo beautiful. It does have a scattering of rams and sheep among the moors. Oh and at the parking up point there is normally a little van for a good ol' brew stop!

Impressed with your dedication to the cause biggrin.gif

That looks a grand one, we're not far from the Trough.

I didn't realise it was for you.

That walk is not far from me and I've done the first bit - nice walk but there are sheep up there and I'm not sure if there are signs to keep dogs on lead.

Looking at the walking in lancs website, there are some good ones there. I always used to go to Silverdale - Eaves Wood is good. Arnside Knott is a nice walk, bit of a climb uphill but worth it for the views. We used to add onto it and walk into Arnside itself and go to the chippy. Both of those are woodland walks so no sheep. I did used to have a book, walking in silverdale, which had some really good walks in. One in particular was at Beetham.

Warton Crag is another nice walk. Not far from the M6 Carnforth junction.

There is a walk on there that starts at Dunsop Bridge but there is a better one - you go past the childrens play area, past some houses and get onto a private road which turns into a track. There are pheasants and sheep so dogs need to be on leads but it's a nice, easy, flat walk.

Condor Green - nice cycle track, which is just gravel, to Lancaster. I used to do that every morning before work. You can go as far as you want and turn back. I used to go up the track and back down on the beach - which is more just salt marsh. Good pub there as well!

Good website - will bookmark it!

Another good website - http://www.dalesandvaleswalks.co.uk/photow...k/0003-00_.html That is for a particular walk but there are some other good ones in the area.
