Looking at the walking in lancs website, there are some good ones there. I always used to go to Silverdale - Eaves Wood is good. Arnside Knott is a nice walk, bit of a climb uphill but worth it for the views. We used to add onto it and walk into Arnside itself and go to the chippy. Both of those are woodland walks so no sheep. I did used to have a book, walking in silverdale, which had some really good walks in. One in particular was at Beetham.

My grandparents used to live right at the foot of the Knott. I spent half of my childhood walking up and down it, and on a really energetic day walking over it then all the way to Silverdale smile.gif

When my Grandpa died, my mum used some of the inheritance to get some map/diagram thingy (it does have a proper name but I can't remember it) that's near the car park refurbished.I haven't been back for several years now, but it's my spiritual home and I MISS IT!!!! sad.gif

its brilliant, there is a part when you get to the top of the tarn. you can either turn left and do a loop right around the waters egde, or you can walk through the gate and keep going untill you get on the top of a hill over looking windermere, Then you turn around and come back.

Or there is one we havnt been on yet and thats the water falls walk

I live on the west coast of cumbria so I know quite alot of good walks , it depends on where abouts in the lake district you want really. I can recomend a book called, North lakeland walks with children by Mary Welsh. These walks range from 2 miles to 8 miles and although it says they are suitable for children I would say your kids have to be pretty hardy to attempt some of them!!!
Keswick railway walk is nice you can do either2, 4 or 8 miles on that one Park up behind the Keswick Spa swimming baths and your straight on to the path.
The walk around Buttermere is lovely and about 5 miles
Two of our favorites are Eel tarn at Eskdale ( wainright walk) up onto the fell and the
Bouderstone and Derwent water, Parking at Rosthwaite, down the borrowdale valley. This is a really good circular walk that brings you back along the river which Poppy loves to cool off in .
I would also recomend whinnlatter forest which has a visitor center where you can purchase a walk guide. The coast line along here is pretty beautiful too, so take your pick!!
If you'd like any more info just let me know and I'll give you some details and maps
