Hiya all

Esp her armpits are itchy, the white fur there is pink now and she scratches and licks. I have not changed her food, the only idea I have are fleas, but haven't found anything, and peanut butter. She always had peanut butter once a week in a kong, but the last five weeks she had it daily. Any other ideas? And what could I use to relieve the itch??

I find Sulphur really helps itchy skin, as well as a shampoo such as epi-soothe.

Are you using a different brand of cleaner in the house??? Could it be environmental?? Princess is itchy at the minute but that has been a reaction to nettle stings and other such like that are more prominent now.

I haven't changed cleaning products (use Ecover). I made an appointment with the vet for 10.40 as googling itchy armpits dog made me all itchy myself wacko.gif laugh.gif . Want to exclude any creepy crawlies, esp since I'm going back to training class tomorrow.

Vet says she has infected spots on her tummy and something might well have bitten her since she walks rarely on the path and I take her nearly daily for countryside walks where she rolls a lot in heather and things like that. Anyway, no peanut butter, antibiotics for seven days and one pipette of frontline combo, just in case there might be a flea or two. Vet hasn't seen any evidence of fleas though.

If angel has been anxious she tends to lick her armpits, which then makes them a bit sore so she licks more!! I used bitter apple just to discourage licking

She sounds very similar to my JRT Rosie, she is a very itchy little dog!
She had all the -*test*-('")s, skin scrapes, biopsies, allergy -*test*-('")ing etc which cost a fortune rolleyes.gif which all came back pretty much clear.
I bath her every week in medicated shampoo (the Vetplus one) which helps alot.
She always seems worse too after country/wood walks as oppsosed to the beach.
Hope the antibiotics and flea stuff helps, it might be worth thinking about shampooing occasionally, it's certainly helped with Rosie, and kept her off the dreaded steroids so far wink.gif

Could be ants, my two have been bitten before by ants and a few friends' dogs have been bitten too.

Aloe vera will help soothe it and propolis will stop any infection.

To repel ants put some mint oil on her collar or mix it with water and spray her every day smile.gif

My new dog has had an ichy problem too since I got him 4 weeks ago. I have tried the flea behind the neck stuff and gave him a few baths with Tea Tree shampoo. It now seems to have calmed down, it is always at bed time when he starts to scratch and "Spring Clean" him self rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif Good luck I hope it calms down.

i've heard 'Head and Shoulders sensitive' shampoo recommended for itchy doggies!

Took Fippas back to the vet yesterday because her armpit has gone worse and there is a lump sad.gif . She has Fuciderm creme just now and if it doesn't go away within a week or two vet will remove the lump surgically and see what it is. Fippas is not itchy anywhere else and she is fine in herself otherwise.

poor little Fipples, could it be a grass seed?

Bagpipe- 10-10-2008
Now this is a thought, never occured to me unsure.gif . We don't have any grass seed probs up here as such.
