Well, my 2 Springer pups are now 6 months old and I absolutely adore them. Life around here is chaos but I wouldn't be without them for a second!!!
I think we've been lucky - no major chewing incidents, other than a couple of pairs of specs and the odd slipper, admitedly I'm glad we don't have carpets in the house since they're the biggest muck magnets I've ever known.
Anyways, here's what I've learned in my first 6 months with a Springer in the house.
1. If you get a puppy in November buy a warm dressing gown and hope your neighours are sleeping soundly at 3am when youre out in the garden desperately trying to whisper "hurry up and pee like a good puppy" through chattering teeth.
2. If you can't find something, ask the dog. Odd shoes can generally be found under the hedge in the garden when its raining.
3. One roll of toilet tissue can cover a whole living room when shredded.
4. One squeaky rubber toy can morph into 367 tiny pieces in 3 minutes.
5. By the age of 6 months a springer will have eaten at least 6 things that are unidentifiable.
6. Within those 6 months they'll have peed on your feet more than once.
7. Dog training classes with a Springer are there to teach you patience, deep breathing, how to count to ten, and anger management.
8. No matter how much someone tells you how much energy a Springer has, you never really comprehend it until you have one (or 2).
9. Suddenly you start noticing Springers everywhere, everyone has either got one, had one, or wants one.
10. Theyre more loveable than you ever thought they could be!
