Some of you may know i am gunshy and would like to eventually overcome the fear.
A man with permission was shooting rabbits in the field where my ponies graze, i needed to catch my ponies so i waited a while. Eventually i got fed up with waiting and went to catch them, saw the guy laying in the grass with his gun.
Once i caught the ponies and put them in their small bit with less yummy grass, i went over to the guy and sat chatting to him, i felt ok and brave, then he said oo theres a rabbit, put his gun up and shot it. He had a silencer on it, that was a pleasant sound, didnt sound like what i was expecting, i was pleasantly surprised. I wanted to ask him if i could let my 4yo Ben watch him and retrieve something but i bottled it.
But hey, it was unplanned and i was comfortable with it.

well done to you.... biggrin.gif

everyone has different perceptions of guns and i have found that alot of the 'anti' attitude comes from people who are gunshy or unsure about them. Its so refreshing to hear a postive attitude rather than the usual stuff that gets thrown around.

plus you will probably find that alot of hunters love springers and will happily let your dog retreive for them (you shouldve been cheeky and asked for a few rabbits lol). good dogs (esp springers) are almost as essential to shooting as the gun imo!!!!
