It was on Monday 23rd June! Cannot believe I missed her day!
We found Maisy in kennels after reading a posting on my work notice board saying "Springers needing new homes". She had been placed in kennels by the dog warden who had taken her and numerous others away from the "breeder" who "didn't know when enough was enough".
I read the notice on the Friday and we were at the kennels on Saturday morning. All the way there, we were telling the kids that we might not take her (yeah, right!) cos I didn't know what to expect. I was shown this rather pathetic looking dog who was trembling with fright, she stunk to high heaven and her coat was filthy. We obviously decided to take her home!
We put her in the back of the jeep, with the kids sitting in the back seat.. She promptly jumped over the seat and curled up on Connor's lap.
It was our (read Rob's) intention that she should sleep downstairs in the kitchen but after 3 nights of scratching at the door, we (read I) decided to settle her upstairs at the foot of our bed. She slept peacefully all night ! So there she has slept ever since!!
A vet check confirmed she was in good health, if a little underweight, but we thought we'd easily sort that out! How wrong we were. She has been a nightmare to feed!
She took the arrival of Murfsta totally in her stride in February and now they are inseperable! She even started eating - no suprise there!
She is completely devoted to the children, and stays by Katies side whenever we're all out walking. She is her guardian without a shadow of a doubt!
