Today Chase and I went to a Water Training Day run for dogs just about ready to start to compete. We are not at that level but we were allowed in to do puppy training. I have decided I like training sessions that have a very specific purpose as opposed to doing a bit of everything!
We were all assessed by the trainers and split into two groups. Chase was as expected in Puppy (and Problems) and after he initially was a little apprehensive (he has been attacked in water) he settled and worked really hard. By the afternoon we were shown how to progress his training to start blind retrieves on water then I was told to pop him away as he had done so well but he was getting tired.
Mugi went along just for the ride and got the chance to swim and retrieve too, he did his first duck retrieves which bodes well for the upcoming season.
I was proud of both boys and got to learn loads from people who both judge and compete in Field Trials.

I'm very impressed that you had time to handle and take photos - clearly you are much more together when working your dogs than I am . Lovely photos, and very impressive work.
I'm doing a working training session tomorrow, I'll try and take some photos, but no promises

Seriously I didn't take the ones of Chase as I need 110% concentration on him but I do have permission to use his pics.
Mugi on the otherhand is such a good boy he will wait to give me his bird after I have put the camera down so I can photograph him myself.
Have a good training session tomorrow.

Have to boast that Mugi's retrieve on duck has been deemed very good by a judge who watched him yesterday, she would apparently have marked him well - and how I wish I had had him earlier in his life as I think he would have been a fab dog to learn with as he so wants to please.
Kelly, once I know when I am going back to work do you fancy meeting for a day somewhere like Cannock (off hand the only place I can think that is part way for both of us) and have a see what B can manage?

We can do Cannock
