Hi all, well I thought Poppy was doing great with the toliet training until a few days ago she had, had no accidents and was seemingly settling in well. Only we now seem to have taken a huge step back in toliet training? Its not that we dont take her out enough as we seem to be spending more time outside than in laugh.gif but the second we come in she uses the floor as a toilet!! dry.gif At first I thought it was the scent in the front room attracting her after her first accident, so we made that room off bounds, but no shes happy to do it any where it seems, anywhere other than outside! LMAO!
Ive also put puppy pads down with alittle bit of wee dabbed onto it in the kitchen, but they are not being used at all, I think she just likes the soft carpet on her bum!
Sorry gotta laught or I will cry!
I am now running out of ideas fast, Please help!!!

Poppy is still very young, as long as you persevere you will get there. Is it wees and poos or just one or the other?

Keep any eye for sniffing in cricles etc (trying to pick the right spot to go) as soon as you see her do that just pick her up without saying anything and plonk her where you do want her to go - when she is actually "going" say the word you will use such as wee wee then praise her to the hilt.

I often thought i cracked it with Angel, and as soon as she heard me boasting she would squat in front of me and wee! ARGHHH! But they do get there in the end but you do have to be consistent.

Good luck

Thanks for that its encouraging to know we are on the right track! so to speak. lol.
It's both wee's and poo's and when she was going outside we were using a word as she went. which seemed to be going well, until now. I think im just panicing that we are doing something wrong.

When you take her out, refuse to play or any interaction really till she went, then give her a little treat or a game if you want.

You are not doing anything wrong biggrin.gif
I had two puppies and spent the summer of 2006 in the garden toilet training them they still came in and used my lovely cream carpets as their loo laugh.gif laugh.gif
Use bio washing powder to clean up any accidents this will discourage her from peeing in the same place again. Try not to tell Her off she really doesnt understand that your carpet is not the place to pee etc biggrin.gif
Be assured it does get better. Springers with a bit of patience learn very quickly.

From out of nowhere, after having no accidents for at least a month +, Bailey peed on the carpet last night, am hoping it was just a little blip!! She's 6 months old today, and she's been doing so well!

*Na*- 06-28-2008
Awww no, fingers crossed for you it was just a little blimp. smile.gif

*Na*- 07-02-2008
laugh.gif laugh.gif Well you know how it is one step forward ten back. We had the parents over this weekend so she was showing off i think and as the back door was open kept going out on her own steam and going to the toilet!! inbetween when we were taking her out biggrin.gif Only now they are gone and nothing else has changed and we are back to square one LMAO!! dry.gif we take her out she comes in and pee's on the floor!!! rolleyes.gif
You still going ok?

I'm in the midst of this too.
That said they tend to go out for poos but still wee in and out of doors.
(thank goodness for laminate flooring!)
Want to start teaching them to only go in 1 area, have fenced off a corner and intend taking them there till they go then they can come out for play.
Will see how it goes rolleyes.gif

Good luck with Poppy.

I agree with the thank goodness for laminate luckly we only have one carpeted room down stairs and as of next week that will be gone too lol.
Luckly we have only had one accident this week and that was when we had someone come in get Poppy excited, and make her pee on their shoes laugh.gif next time they will know better wink.gif
Fingers crossed you will get there soon with the weeing area smile.gif we have found she has become so much better now she is going out for walks too? Not sure why laugh.gif maybeshe is too tired to pee in the house when she gets back hahahaha!
