My vote goes with Dyson - last time I needed a new one I decided they were too expensive and surely other brands would have caught up by now. I bought another well known but cheaper brand, it was no where near as good and lasted a week before it overheated.

I returned it and got another Dyson - You do get what you pay for.

Definately a Dyson animal I got a free party pack with mine which contained a dusting brush, turbo tool, cleaning spray a really hard brush which is excellent for picking up dog hairs of sofas and in cars!

A Sebo!! I have had Dyson and was happy with it, but it blew up and caught on fire blink.gif the day after the warranty ended. I was recommended a Sebo and to be honest it is much better. It was expensive, but worth every penny!

Vax turboforce upright for me... it's bloomin marvellous!

Will do carpets and hard floors and has a 'turbo tool' for stubborn pets hairs (great for stairs too)

Got it from these guys on ebay... 1 yr warranty and immediate replacement if faulty. Got it for £28 + £12 delivery. I've also had a Vax carpet washer from them too which is also superb (got that for less that £40 inc delivery too! biggrin.gif )

Thank you for all your reviews. smile.gif
My previous hoover was a dyson and I didn't have any problems with it, in fact is still works ok. Now we have Taffy I needed something a little more substantial. So I have ordered a Dyson animal upright. biggrin.gif

I cant believe the prices on the web page spangaljo has recommended, they even do an animal hoover on there. Already ordered mine though.
Thanks for the great advise. wink.gif

Sorry, I've had the Animal Dyson since it came out and it's (to put it bluntly, crap).

I will not have another Dyson, they have all prooved to be rubbish.

I have overspent and got a hoover with a 7 year guarantee, a free handheld, and not bagless. But, believe you me it's the best thing I've invested in where dog hair is concerned. And the customer service is great.

Everyone that comes to the house I let have a go and they are all seriously impressed. I will never ever buy Dyson again, the original Dysons were better than the Animal one and I had both, and still have the Animal to remind me of how crap it is.

What is this hoover, I'm not telling in case they put the price up even more when they realise how popular it is. biggrin.gif

This debate has been going on for several years on other dog forums. I remember everyone being enthusiastic about Dysons then. Fast forward a couple of years and they all changed their minds. rolleyes.gif

Each to their own though, but personally I would never buy Dyson again.

OK, my hoover's on it's way out (twelve years of extreme hoovering, it's not done too bad!)

Wondered if anyone else could recommend anything?

I got a Dyson Animal 2mths ago (to replace a 10yr old Dyson DC01).

Does the job!

cazza- 02-19-2008
I had / have a dyson DC01 - still going strong (altho is used as a second cleaner now)

I bought a Morphey pet for @£80 - it is bagless but has this paper corrigated filter inside the dirt bit and is a Bl**dy nightmare to empty - so I got rid of it ph34r.gif

So my advice is if going for a bagless make sure you don't get one that has this corrigated filter in the dirt bit that needs bashing to clean and washing

When I was still working in the supermarket there were a few dyson DC03 in the warehouse (I checked the price and then looked for the same one on the internet and OMG the supermarket had it for nearly half price of everywhere else and then with my discount made it even cheaper - so asked my boss if I could buy one and he agreed - two weeks later they put them out on the shop floor for nearer the cheapest price I saw them on the internet tongue.gif - so I got a good deal biggrin.gif )

It does the job, the only thing I miss off the Morphey one is the 'turbo tool' (I tried it on the dyson but it didn't work rolleyes.gif so gave it to the person I gave the vacuum cleaner too wink.gif )

They must be some wild parties at your house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've got a Meile, we inherited it almost brand new. We have to be careful with the suction as it lifts the carpet. Bags are a bit pricey and it fills them faaaar to quick, but I suppose that means its working! laugh.gif

I got the Dyson 14 Animal yestarday will let you know how I get on with it. (got it from Argos as its on sale).

Daisy_Dawg- 02-19-2008
We just got rid of a Dyson animal, because I hated it - it was the cylinder version, but I found it far too heavy and cumbersome especially on the stairs - ended up with a broken wrist after one particular tangle with it!

Can't remember what we've got now, think it's an Electrolux but it's a pet special one, and it does an amazing job - keeps our carpets almost cream, even with a black cat and a Daisy!!!!
