A whistle is a must, three boys running back to me is the norm, add Sweep, my mum and dads wee cocker who is staying for the week and remembering it and belting back was priceless.

I taught her recall to it moons ago, she doesn't come with us that often but its definateley clicked And that wasn't following the rest

As Pen said, whistle for food intially, then to come to you for a treat, then maybe a treat but always praise, doing this ways, then theres sits and stops.....

On a more serious note having read through all of this post I would like to congratulate you on the decision you made on not taking on two puppies.

We did

We have 2 wonderful 2 and a half year old girls now but it has been hard work and we have no young children. I have had 4 children and found them easier to raise than the girls

Looking forward to getting him so much. The house and garden have been so empty since we lost Ted.....had him for 12 years......cant wait to have a dog around us all again....

couldnt get this resized...hope it works but this was my dear Ted.....We all miss him so very much...

Paul - Ted is lovely. You can see from his eyes he is was a happy and contented dog. He is a wee bit like my old sprollie Hamish.

If you feel able, you could post a memorial to him on Rainbow Bridge (if you have not already done so).

That way he will always be part of Spring Thing, have good wishes and prayers sent his way, and be honoured for the fine dog he was (and still is)

he was a happy dog apart from prob the last few weeks of his life....
We all miss him so very much..in fact I still have a little cry every now and again when I look at his pictures....it hasnt been that long since he left...but it just felt right to get another dog...Erin misses him so very much and hasnt been sleeping well as Ted made her feel safe.....so she cant wait to get Finn....I still feel guilty sometimes though....but I know in my heart we will never replace Ted.....he was one in a million....but we are all looking forward to building a new bond with Finn and welcoming him into our lives..
