biggrin.gif Hi all I am new here and a new springer spaniel owner!!! I am a canine sports massage therapist and have always had collies (of which i still have 2 Fagin and Wizard) Wizard is my agility dog, Fagin is just a pet as agility is far too much like hard work!! Recently I found myself saying that I would love a Springer spaniel to do field trials with ( I have never done any thing like it before)!!! So here I am with a 14 week old springer spaniel bitch called Tarka, I am loving every minute with her. I love the excitement they have for life and the way they can laugh at themselves if they do something daft (which is most of the time)!! So far removed from my lovely but grumpy collies!!! We attend puppy class and she does the best sit for liver cake and she has mastered her recall even when all the other dogs are having a fab time!! Still not quite got stay yet as she is so busy.
Sorry to go on but I am so enthusiastic about her. I am definately a springer fan now, hopefully watch this space as I will probably bore you all to death with her training progression!!! Yay to the springers!! tongue.gif

Hello and welcome to the site.
It sounds from what you do for a living that you will be able to give us advice too!

There is a lot of advice on gundog training on the site. I don't do any gundog work with Moxie, but she does know whistle commands and hand signals. You will find that many people recommend professional training.
I was a border collie owner until I got Moxie, but Bess sadly died aged almost fifteen a couple of years before I got Moxie.
In many ways they are similar breeds in that they are intellegent, very anxious to please, and love to learn.
I have found that Moxie is so bright that you have to be quite firm with her as she thinks she knows better sometimes!
I hope you enjoy being a member as much as I do, and we would all love to see some photos of all your dogs.

Hello and welcome from Fife in Scotland smile.gif

I can sense your excitement from your post laugh.gif

I have just fostered a 14month old springer who has been popped on the agility.net forum because of his speed and size. No way could I ever manage agility with a dog unless I had an oxygen bottle in tow. dry.gif

Like everyone else, I look forward to hearing more from you.
