It's a mine field out there Sandra when it comes to home cooked food. When you cook the food you destroy a lot of the nutrients that he'd benefit from and you are going to have to really try and find the supplements to make up for it one way or another, especially as he's still growing. As for rice, it's a food that a dog actually finds quite hard to digest especially if you were to feed it on a regular basis and along with pasta it's really only going to act as a filler and nutrient, vitamin wise is pretty worthless where a dog's concerned. If you really can't go down the raw feeding route which is a shame if it's just because you are a wimp over it, can't you wear gloves when handling raw food Let us know how you go on and if you could bring yourself to feeding a bit of raw let me know and I'll try and help you out as much as I can Sandy

Would i just give meat then bones and all!! I always thought they could choke on bones!!!! Gosh how much would i have to give a day. I know he would love this but its all very confusing. Can you combine raw and cooked (for example when we go on holiday my parents will have him and it might be a bit much to chuck aload of raw food in their freezer. Talking of freezers i would have to get another one!! Humans eating raw food like chicken or pork is bad for them is this not the case with puppies?? I know im being incredibly stupid here but i didnt realize how little i knew.

Sandra pm me and I'll send you our raw diet sheets for you to have a look at, yes you can combine raw and cooked if you wish to, at least he'll be getting a lot of the things he needs from the raw he eats as well as your peace of mind from slaving away over a hot stove Once you see them enjoying raw food you'll sit and be amazed at how much they enjoy eating it, they really do love it! They can choke on anything including kibble but the danger comes from COOKED bones and rarely raw. A dogs digestive system works differently from a human so raw food to them is a natural way of eating they digest it quicker and with absolute ease, they have enormously strong digestive acid in their systems which break down and digest raw food in a matter of hours so there's no danger of them becoming ill from eating raw food, some dogs even like to bury their food or find something that's been dead for many days before they like to eat it! I've fed puppies raw food from as young as 5 weeks of age and they loved it! Sandy
