Tia is one year old, was thinking about taking her to the groomers, is she to young for hand stripping, and is it a painful process. She has a smooth coat and it just needs a tidy up any advice would be appreciated

Thanks Shirley

Hi Shirley,

1stly is she speyed?? as normally a groomer will not hand strip a speyed dog I know I wont, as the hair grows in course and this can cause discomforth to the dog.
She is not too young to handstriop, and it is not a painful process at all, I have known dogs to drift off to sleep during the process.
If you say her coat is smooth then it maybe OK to handstrip if she has been speyed, take the advise of your groomer

Hi Mary, Tia is booked in for spaying 10th March so should i take her before or after and once done how often should i take her. We have not used this groomer before as she is new to the village and i dont know anyone that has used her she also does anal glands and ear plucking???

When you take her in for spaying, the vet will shave hr tummy really close, I would take her in before hand and get her trimmed up, the groomer will not or shouldn;t pluck spaniels ears the only ears you pluck are double coated dogs ie Lhasas poodles SC Wheaten, Schnauzers etc
