hi everyone
just a question about feeding pixie, she,s now 5month and growing very fast. i feed her on james wellbeloved lamb/rice kibble / turkey/rice kibble. i have used this product for years for other dogs and find they all love it.
do you use this, if so what do you think of it. she also gets leftovers from our meals
is this a good idea or not? should you change the dog food brand to give your pet
a better choice. what about dental sticks, i get bakers , any better ones. also bought a gencon, she still jumps like a kangaroo trying to get it off her nose
finding it realy hard work.
thanx all redz

Hi there!

JWB one of the better dried complete foods, mine all have it, although we alternate with raw food and naturediet.

I don't see a problem with giving leftovers, as long as your dog can digest them, the food won't harm them (such as onions) and there arte no cooked bones. Variety is the key wink.gif

IMHO commercial dental sticks don't do a great job of cleaning your dogs teeth. I suppose it depends why you are buying them?? As a treat, something to chew on, or a teeth cleaner?? If teeth cleaner/chewing is what you are after then pigs trotters, ribs etc would be much more efficient and better for your dog.

We use JWB. Tess our mix was on wet food till we got Bailey, then we swapped them both to dried. We tried PAH own brand, but they didn't like it at all. Tess is doing great, Bailey has runny poo! But I am trying bran added to is, so hope that will help.

I tend to add a bit of gravy, otherwise it takes them ages to eat, and I don't like to leave it down, and sometimes I pop in cheese, tomato, lettuce last night, and any other safe leftovers we have.

We are looking to change, only because JWB is so expensive, but not done it yet, CSJ is a possible, otherwise not sure. Bailey has grown up lovely on JWB though.

For teeth, the dried has really helped Tess's, Bailey's are great, although I have bought some teeth wipes, that I've never used!! They also have chews, pigs ears, hide etc. I am off Bakers completely, after reading such bad things about their stuff.

If you go to Willow's Kitchen, (from the home page) there are some great ideas for treats.

I kinda like the idea of Raw food, but can't quite get my head round it, although OH has offered to try them on a chicken wing!!

P.S. anyone fancy moving this to a more relevant place so it won't get overlooked? huh.gif
