Bitches and males I'm afraid.

Some people think bitches urine is stronger but I am not sure if that is true.

I think bitches tend to empty their bladder in one go, whereas males do it a bit at a time to mark territory, so there tends to be less in the one spot from males.

I have found nothing to cure brown patches in over 30 yrs. So I resort to a bag of compost, and a box of grass seed. Each time I mow the lawn, I scrape the brown areas lightly, sprinkle seed, then cover lightly with compost. During growing season it usually germinates quite fast.

Luckily most of my garden is hard landscaped. Helps keeps their nails short too. laugh.gif

At the moment Oliver's wee doesnt turn our grass brown but that be because he is younger. I thought it was more bitches than did that so perhaps i have those brown patches to come lol!

I have them everywhere! someone said that if you add tomato sauce to their food it helps neutralize it - must say i have never tried this! Think their is also a product called Stay Green from PAH - i think my grass is beyond saving though biggrin.gif

Cath i have tried re-seeding but with angel bounding over it it never has the chance to grow am i doing something wrong?

Tis just one of those things - if you have dogs - male or female - you're gonna get brown patches on your grass. wink.gif just think of how empty your life was pre-canine laugh.gif who wants green lawns anyway ? unsure.gif

Luckily for us the chickens have already given us plenty of bare patches on the lawn so we won't be worried about it, it's already ruined!! biggrin.gif

If you are worried about the brown patches, Why not train him to wee in the same spot all the time as that what i have done with mine. Makes picking up after them a whole lot easier.

If your not worried to much dont worry and enjoy him.

When he starts (if) to cock his leg to pee, you will have fewer brown patches. You can teach them to do their business in one area. My three do their peeing along the edge of the yard so it's not so bad.

I have crabgrass and weeds in their yard. As long as it's green I'm ok laugh.gif laugh.gif

You might wait till next year to do anything. The nitrogen in urine burns the grass the first year, but the next year it is lush.

I have a cure ohmy.gif Keep a full watering can by your lawn, minute dog wees dilute by pouring water over it, although I obviously fail to keep up with the task due to the fact I've got so many dogs and I'd be running around like a mad thing in order to catch every single dog in the act, so I have a trashed lawn too BUT when we only had a couple of dogs this worked everytime, you just have to make sure you have a constantly full can of water and need to be vigilant, not always the case at 2am I know .......can anyone really be bothered laugh.gif

laugh.gif I agree Sandy - yes i did love my beautiful green lawn pre-dog ownership but i love my Angel a whole lot more than my lawn, raspberries that she eats the stalks off and flowers that she loves to sit on and squash!
