I've been walking Bella in long grass and like some of the otheres didn't realise the seeds were so dangerous. After brushing her i just spent some time running my hands through her coat and pulling them out with my nails. she wasn't too keen but let me do it anyway. I thought it was a nice thing to do but now realise it's really important. thanks a lot for this information dry.gif

I live in the South of France and the grass seeds seem to be much more of a problem here than they ever were in England - This year I have had 9 visits for seeds in the ears and 4 for the nose! The vet here has advised me that if they get them in their ears, you should put any type of oil into the ear immediately as it prevents any further damage to the ear and then go to the vets to have it removed.

An absolute nightmare these things mad.gif mad.gif You have to be extremely vigilant this time of the year for the little blighters.

Over the years we have had two nasty instances. Cider our old ESS had one in his neck of all places ohmy.gif . It was only after several weeks of being treated with antibotics for an abscess in his throat, he then had a lump the size of a golf ball appear, more antibiotics, then the size of a tennis ball when the vet decided to operate. Out floated the grass seed - the vet even left the evidence to show us as he was very surprised at what he found ohmy.gif . More recently Cassie had one in her foot which had travelled up and the first symptom was a lump on her foot. Vet didn't want to operate so advised applying a poltice (spelling?) of bread and salt to draw it out. Believe it or not it worked .
