My plans are to go walking with my dog in he future when he,s old enough to do some milage, days hiking that kind of stuff nothing serious before he,s fully developed.
I was toying with the idea of doing the Lyke Wake walk in 2009 the dog will be just short of 2 YO if I did it in June of 09.
This is 40 miles over 16-20 hrs is this too much to expect of a springer or within the breed capablities, my pup is from working lines, obviously there would be the usual build up training.
I,m not desperate for this to happen and the little mans health comes before anything sporting. but the trip over the moors to Ravenscar would be a good experience
I thought I may get comments on this thread from people with experience of working springers wink.gif

Don't know about springers but a friend of mine walked the Great Glen Way with her 2 goldies last summer. It's over 100 miles - they spent a good few days at it.

One of her goldies is 10 years old and my friend is retired.

She planned it for a while and built up her and the dogs' fitness gradually so that they would all cope.
