It's here biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I was just wondering what to order now. Am i right in thinking when they first start on raw it's best to stick to one meat, like chicken? Is chicken the best meat to start off with? or maybe lamb?

Don't forget i'm new to this so be nice tongue.gif

I was going to order:

Diced heart
Liver chunks
Minced chicken or minced chicken and tripe
Whole chicken wings
Chicken carcass
Chicken fillet
St chicken - does anyone know what this is ?????? rolleyes.gif

So what do you think? Is there anything missing? I'll add some free range eggs too, how often can they have eggs? I'll also get some kidneys from the butchers. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head smile.gif Can't wait to get started biggrin.gif

We who feed raw will always be nice we are here to help you

I i am so jealous that you have a freezer just for the dogs
we have to share our freezer with our girls
The girls food is taking over ours lol

I don't feed my girls mince the reason is I feed raw is to give them something to chew at making them work for their food . Their jaws have to work their neck muscles work they don't just Hoover something up that is put before them.
Starting off its prob best to stick to one meat. I did try many more as a new raw feeder
just loved to see them eat but they did throw up some of the things I fed them in the beginning,
I find raw feeding very easy now but it is trial and error but you do get there in the end.
If I were you

I would forget the mince chicken or minced chicken and tripe
I do buy tripe from PAH (frozen)
Chicken carcass i would class as something to clean their teeth
Chicken Fillet I would have for MY TEA
Never heard of ST chicken

Belly Pork
Breast of lamb
Ox tail
Rabbit
Chicken wings are great for pups . I now buy the whole chicken as cheap as i can and cut it up for them.
When I buy pork chops for us with the bone in i cut around the bone leaving most of the meat for us but saving the bone and some of the meat for the girls . If i cooked all of the chop we would eat the meat and throw away the bone. my girls then have a meaty recreational bone treat that helps to clean their teeth. They love this and it is so much better than any of the treats out there to buy for cleaning their teeth.
My two love sardines in oil (tinned and not very meaty or boney lol) only way I can get them to eat fish (oil Drained)
Pigs head or
Anything meaty with some bone in you can get your hands on.
2 tablespoons of low fat natural yogurt weekly
1 egg each with shell weekly.
I also sprinkle a bit of garlic granules in with their Flash Fried offal Liver/kidney/heart (only way i can get them to eat offal) about 1/2 teaspoon once a week
supposed to be good to keep away fleas

pigs ears and trotters, butchers usually throw them away but most will sell them to you for a pittance, we pay 10p each or occasionally we get a bonus bag which is a few extra in for a £1 a bag.

lamb breast, is cheap and nice and meaty, trim off any hard fatty bits, you don't want to give your dogs a heart attack laugh.gif

I always keep some mince in for emergencies as I do a monthly butchers run and the mince is handy if I get low but other than that I like the meaty bones to to give them something to chew on.

fresh rabbits if you can get em, a raw egg once or twice a week, obviously not for the freezer and keep your eyes open on the cheap shelp in the supermakets and grab whatever you can, a tip Christine gave me was ox heart, I'd never thought of it before but mine love it, Ollie gets it mixed with mince cause his teeth aren't as good as the youngster's.

That's great biggrin.gif

But am i right in thinking that to start with it best to stay on just the one meat? like chicken

you can do i think the advice is one week at a time and then introduce something else, but if I'm honest I just jumped in both feet and went the whole hog and dished up an assortment ph34r.gif
